Re: Some problems, some symptoms, one clue

No, I haven't. I'm sort of stubborn I guess. I want USB to live up to the promise. It drives me a little nuts when I have one mouse and one keyboard connected to USB ports and there are 10 entries in device manager under "Human Interface...

I could, but I am addicted to the wireless mouse. I had a MS wireless mouse for a long time that worked fine but the left button wore out, I thought, so I replaced it. Now, it actually looks like the problems may not have been the mouse since...

All is mostly good. Disks and disk system working fine. No crashes.

I'm occasionally having trouble with the keyboard and mouse. In Windows, in Device Manager, there are at least 12 entries relating to those two devices. I can disable...

    Windows 7

The memory is Corsair. I'm not certain what you mean by "link". As far as I can tell, Corsair doesn't have individual spec pages. Here is the blurb from the product data page (which includes data for many different...

9 hours 20 minutes of Prime95. Zero errors.

    !!!

Still happy to hear feedback on the BIOS, especially the missing drive thing.

    Complete current bios settings list

Don't bother chastizing me for the format (tabbed text file gets trashed by the Vbulletin editor) or the lines with a value and "AUTO" listed. The information is listed the way that the BIOS screens present it. If you know that a value listed...

A bit more news. Right after I posted the above, I put the side cover back on the case and moved the box back into it's normal position (just a little turn) and when I looked up - BSOD. Being attuned to the connector problem I took a hard look...

    Backup completed.
    Reboot successful two times.

I believe the problem was really my graphics card. On this board, the SATA sockets are on the right side, near the bottom of the board. The PCI-E slot is just a little higher up...

    Wow.
I decided, before going to bed, to try plugging the old drive into a different SATA socket. It's always been in SATA2-0.
I put it in SATA2-5 and booted from the Paragon CD.
The boot was quick, Paragon immediately saw both...

Well, things have really gone down the toilet today.

After I installed the second drive, the computer would not boot. It did not even list the first drive in the bios screen.
But it was seeing the new drive but it wasn't formatted...
