  • x99 ud4 - sli with ATX4P no boot, without boots fine

Hello, Just got a 2nd gpu for sli. Rig was flying with a single gpu.

My motherboard wont boot when I have the ATX4P installed for PCIE extra power (as per manual, says with 2+ gpu plug this in)

First, this is silly as an x99 gen should even have molex. But luckily my evga g2 came with 1 molex style connector.

Boots fine, havent done any testing or bench without the ATX4P. Either 1 card or two cards of course.

    Any suggestions?

    thank you

    spec:
    x99 ud4
    5820k @4.3
    4x4gb ddr4
    zotac 980 amp omega
    asus strix 980
    evga 750w g2 (gold)

    Things ive tried:
    - diff PSU slot
    - diff molex on the chain
    - 1 card, 2 card same issue
    - sli bridge, no sli bridge

doubtful, all calcs come to 650-700watt for my rig. im on a 750 gold. sli works with out the atx4p, but not with.

however i did figure it out.

Gigabyte actually made the molex slot so you can plug in either direction! im surprised i didnt bin the board

a molex should only fit one way...however not in the x99-ud4 lol.

checked the keying, and turned it around. Was problematic before as the h440 doesnt allow much viewage on bottom facing mobo bits.

      please close.
