  • GA-X58A-UD5 v1.0 + Gainstown CPU (Xeon E5520, E5540 or L5520) Modified Bios and/or MB Mod

I have a GA-X58A-UD5 v1.0 MB, and I was wondering if I could get a modified bios (and/or get a mod for the board) to get this V1.0 board to support Dual QPI Xeons?

I know the V2.0 of this same board will work. I already have a X58A-UD3R v2.0 board with these CPU's running in them and I wanted to get the UD5 fired back up.

the CPU support list for the V1.0 board doesn't have any gainstown CPU's on it's list but they're there for v2.0 and I was hoping to get this working.

I was also able to get Gainstown's to work in an EVGA X58 board after putting in the latest bios for the board and performing a small short on the board to disable the 2nd QPI, I'm hoping for such a simplistic mod for this board.

    Let me know

Soo... I'm guessing that's going to be a no?

That's correct. I would recommend an attempt at exchanging that for a rev. 2.0 board with GB Support.

Unfortunately my board is past the 3yr warranty period. I don't think they would go for that.

that's unfortunate that I couldn't mod the board like the other I have :(
