I had a SATA drive (250GB) which I was using on an ASUS Motherboard with AMD Athlon X2. The Board has some problem. So I decided to use an old MoBo Which I already have (GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L) and a pentium chip (dual core E5200).
There are some peculiar issues
1. on plugging my SATA HDD , it is recognized as IDE ( channel 0 primary) and my SATA DVD RAM as IDE (channel 1 primary).
2. I have a dual boot of WINDOWS 7 (64 Bit) and OpenSUSE Linux (64 bit)
3. Grub boots fine , but the disk reference is all mixed up I guess . So I tried to start the OS from the grub prompt. When I chainload to Windows, a blank screen appears and system reboots
4. When I try to start Open SUSE , there is a message "waiting for root device to appear " and then hangs
What are the settings to be used in BIOS?
