  • Old Build New PSU ?

Old PSU's fan was getting noisy so I bought a new OCZ 600 watt to replace. The EP45-UD3R system was running fine when I shut it down. I removed and replaced the PSU. Powered system on and nothing happened. Tested the PSU with a paperclip and appeared to be working fine. Removed all connections except for the 8 & 24 connections. Still nothing. Removed battery and cleared CMOS. Still nothing. I replaced the old PSU but that didn't work either. (Tried the paperclip test on the old one and it didn't work so maybe it's now bad ...) Re-attached new PSU; still nothing. System worked fine before I put in the new PSU. Ideas ?

Re: Old Build New PSU ?

So if you test the PSU separately it seems to work fine but when connected to your PC it doesn't do anything?

Re: Old Build New PSU ?

Correct. I bought a PSU tester and tested the old PSU and it appears to be dead. I tested a new one (which I exchanged) and it appears to be working correctly. I also replaced the mobo battery. I connected the 24 & 8 pin leads and still get nothing .. Update : occasionally the 6 LEDs flash when I push the on/off button.

That's a weird one. do you have a different branded PSU you could try? or can you try that PSU in a different system?
