  • USB 3.0 and Windows XP Pro SP3 issue.

    Hello all,

    I could use some help here

    I have a problem with my Kingston DataTraveler 111 32gb 3.0 USB key. When I plug it to any of my 4 USB 3.0 ports. Windows XP doesn't recognize it.
    It does work fine in my USB 2.0 ports. I have a USB 3.0 external hard drive that works flawlessly connected to all my USB 3.0 ports.

    I spoke to Gigabyte tech support which was utterly useless so I was wondering if anybody has a more useful advice other than to buy an expansion card.

    Thanks in advance to all replies,
    -A

    Can I install USB 3.0 controller driver in Windows* XP or Windows* Vista?

      Right now my BIOS is set to Smart Auto. I've tried Auto but I still can't get the key to work.

      p.s. this is the 3rd key from Kingston after 2 RMAs and it's getting a bit frustrating

        Try formatting the Kingston with This or This.

        Since you can read the external USB 3.0 hhd I would rule out a driver problem. I see more Kingston related issues than most other manufacturers, I've always had good results with Sandisk products.

          Thanks for the links, I'll give it a shot, A 3rd RMA was issued to me by Kingston for that same USB key and a different USB 3.0 key will be sent. Will see what happens then.

            I have never gotten a USB3.0 device to work in windows XP. Ever... I've tried on multiple systems...

            I've given up on it. I just used USB 2.0 ports

            OS = Win10-64Bit
            CPU = Ryzen 1700x Overclocked to 4Ghz with custom water-cooling loop

            GPU = Asus 1080Ti ROG Strix

            PSU = EVGA SuperNOVA 1300w
            Case = Cooler Master HAF-X 945

            HTPC / Home Server
            OS = Win7 64Bit running XBMC HTPC Front end with Windows Server 2012 Virtual Machine with 12GB ram assigned for homer server

            MB = Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 v1.0 with F6 Bios
