Z77m-d3h rev 1.1 crashes while playing games

Since saturday evening while my brother was playing Diablo 3 my screen froze and I had to hold the power button down to turn it off but the problem is when i try to turn it back on it gets difficult to even get it to post now i have seen crashes in Diablo 3, Bioshock Infinite and even while watching videos from youtube.
Before I experienced these crashes my drivers have been up to date and my bios has been on stock settings except for memory which is on xmp 1. I have tried reseating everything but the CPU since im hoping thats the last place i wanna venture.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

1st thing I would do is a memory check
2nd thing would be to would be to try a different video card
also when booting, try to have only the mouse and keyboard plugged in to the USB

Dont have a second video card to try but when i take one i have and use the on board one its the same issue with no POSTing
I only have the mouse and keyboard in the usb when im trying to start up after the crashes.
how long should i run memtest for?

I used whocrashed and got a clock watchdog timeout error since then I've updated all the drivers for both motherboard and done all windows updates.

do you have the vcore voltage response and pwm phase control options in the bios?

if you do set vcore voltage response to fast and pwm phase control to extreme performance

can also try with 1.08v cpu/vtt voltage from stock 1.05v

memtest... run it for a couple of hours

I had problems and I turned off usb legacy support in the bios or something like that. Its a while ago and I am not sure.

clock watchdog timeout error relates to the cpu not getting responses it needs

btw: how long has your PC been running ? if it run ok for a while then I doubt its a cpu seating problem

Unfortunately their isnt any such controls for voltage except the dram voltage. Right now i'm able to boot up my pc to windows play games/ surf internet but it would just randomly restart without a BSOD or anything in whocrashed even though i set in windows advance settings to not restart. I have used OCCT to do various tests but I dont see anything out of the ordinary.

As to the run time currently it runs between 25-40 minutes before it restarts.

do you have a spare psu to test with?

tried with only one ram stick installed just to see if it still crashes?

I could use the psu in my older pc but i need to check the wattage on that

Note: I did do occt's psu test and it didnt show the 12v graph change but i only ran it for 10mins how long should i let it run to get reliable result?

Not sure,it should show true results soon as you load it?

What does hardware monitor program say?

no I meant just idle in the desktop,here's an example of 12v psu



it should be 12v or above

you can use a number of monitoring software to see what the 12v rail is (you said it was low?) sorry I don't use occt so not sure what you meant
one is easytune and another is hardinfo which is free here

thats what it showed at this time


I changed dram performance enhance to quick
and ran spybot s&d full scan on startup so far I havent recieved any errors or freezes as yet

the motherboard doesnt have the vcore controls

cant see anything wrong with those,all look ok to me
