New build GA-Z77-Ds3H with i3-3225 boxed. Everything worked fine, but sensors said that the CPU fan was running at 0 revs. I took off side cover and sure enough the fan was not moving. It's a four pin fan. I tried setting CPU Fan Speed Control to disabled which should run the fan at full speed. Still no go.
When I move the connector to the Fan1 header, the fan goes, but sure is noisy like the blades are hitting something. I can't see anything, though.
I will probably replace the heatsink and fan. Fortunately it is in a very cool case and the case fans kept the CPU at around 43C.
On the chance that it's a fault with the CPU fan header, is there a way to check?
Ignore the system summary under my signature. It's a different system.
