  • Memory for GA-Z77X-UD5H

I'm putting together the pieces for a new system. It's been a few years since I did this, so I'm trying to remember everything. One question I had was about memory for the GA-Z77X-UD5H. I'm planning to use a i5 3570K CPU. For memory, I want to put in 16GB and was thinking of DDR3 1600, low latency memory. On the approved memory list, the G.SKILL F3-12800CL7Q-16GBXH kit is listed, but that's not available. Newegg has the F3-12800CL7Q-16GBZM kit in stock, which is a slightly different series. Would I be safe trying this kit, even if it's not on the list?

    Thanks.

    Re: Memory for GA-Z77X-UD5H

Go to the G.Skill website and use their memory Ram Configurator to find memory kits that have been tested with your motherboard.
You should be OK when using one of their recommended kits.
Other memory manufacturers should have a similar feature on their website that will help you select compatible memory.

Don't be fooled by marketing hype that doesn't list compatible memory kits for specific motherboards where they say something like "designed to work with all z77 or 1155 systems."

It looks like this Samsung memory is not readily available in the US anymore, or at least not at the usual retailers. Not listed on Newegg for a while now, and Microcenter no longer has it either. It's still listed on Samsung's US website but none of the listed retailers have it in stock.

We may have seen the last of this memory! If you have any extra (I do) treat it with care and perhaps sell it for an inflated price...

Kingston has some kits that seem to work well with Gigabyte boards. I'm running 16GB (4x4) of some older HyperX and it's been trouble free. The Profile defaults to a 2 CR though.
On the higher end the G Skill TridentX 2400 RAM works pretty good.
