  • GA-EX58-UD5 BIOS F13 Errors: CDROM wont Boot up

As soon as I flashed to F13, my pc would not boot from the CDRom. Even more strange, the F12 Boot Screen would not switch off Hard Drive. In BIOS, I've trioed every boot order, even going as far to choose CDROM in all 3 places. It will just boot to hard drive without giving me a chance to press a key to load from CD like it always does. I am using 2 1TB drives in a RAID 0 configuration. Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance. Here' my rig. Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 CPU Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz: Bloomfield 45nm Technology RAM 6.00 GB Triple-Channel DDR3 @ 532MHz (7-7-7-20) Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Thanks for responding Vin. F12 just brings up Boot Menu, and its locked on Hard Drive. It will not let me switch it to CDROM or anything else.

normally there pressing up/down you can select different devices...

after the Bios Flash was complete, did you go in to the Bios and select "Load Optimized Values"?

Yep, when I press the up and down arrows, the can see the cursor move, ENTER key is supposed to select another option but when you press ENTER, the screen goes away and just loads straight from hard drive. Its not making the switch. I did go in to the Bios and select Load Optimized Values. Will actually do it again for good measure.

tried with f12 bios? I found that to be the most stable on my x58 ud5

could be a bios bug with f13

interesting. How do I flash back to F12? @BIOS seems to be designed to boot the latest bios. I guess I can get the F12 bios files and point to it using @bios update from file feature, but is that wise?

Ok @bios successfully flashed F13 back to F12, using feature above. So far, still cant boot from CD :( Drive works great once windows loads.

                      You guys ROCK!

                      Well done boys.

F13 was the culprit. F12 recognizes my ASUS CD/DVD at bootup.

Thank you both very much :)

Now, on to diagnosing my hard drives in the other thread I have posted in this section...
