Hi,
I have some strange S3 sleep issues since I installed my new gt680 videocard.
I narrowed it down to memory bios settings.
Memory is OCZPlatinum 3p1333lv2g (6X2 Gb=12Gb) 1.65volt
Old situation : corei7 920 (C0), 4870x2 videocard, memory clocked to 1333 Mhz on the default x58 1,5 volt: S3 sleep working 10 out of 10.
New situation: 680gtx
When memory clocked on 1333Mhz/1,5volt : S3 sleep not working. 8 out of 10 times pc won't wake up
When memory clocked on 1066Mhz/1,5volt (=default) : S3 sleep is working 10 out of 10
What is happening here? The 'only' thing changed is the videocard which is much better for the overall powerconsumption (4870x2 is a heavy powerconsuming card)
Is it wise to set the memory voltage to 1.65 volts? I read somewhere that in S3 mode the voltage is set back to 1,5 volt so I guess that that won't work.
Will the 'slower' memory settings of 1066Mhz have any big negative influence on the overall performance? I love to have S3 sleep but not at all costs.
btw. I am on bios F13 and the rest of the bios settings is set to 'optimized defaults', no overclocking (yet)
