[Gigabyte X58A-UD3R] Motherboard CPU Leds all 3 on

Hi people, i would really appreciate some help on this :(
Been a while now, the Leds on the Motherboard for the CPU are always on, (Green, Yellow, Red) all at once 24/7..
Should i be concerned or this is no problem? CPUID Image bellow :)

err... hmmm... what do you have in your RAM slots? 2x4GB sticks and 1x2GB stick?

if that is the case, I'd recomment that you replace that 2GB stick and buy a single stick of whatever brand and make that Dual channel kit is. that would get your system from Dual Channel to Tripple channel as it should be.

now for the LED's which ones are you refering to? left of the ram slots by the CPU socket? or on the the right side of the RAM slots? and if on the right which ones? top right or the other set just below it?

Thank you for your reply and your advice for the ram's ill do that for sure ye its 2x4 1x2

as for the leds its those next to the rams left side, above cpu top right see image bellow.

have you at any point been using dynamic energy/power saving software,i think thats what its called,its a gigabyte utility in that theirs an option in that to turn off the mb led lights or have them lit

voltages look fine

nevermind,its only if you have it installed,actually the cpu voltage is a bit high 1.3v for stock cpu clocks but not dangerous

you could certainly improve on it,look in the bios and set cpu voltage to normal,and then see how much is being used in easytune,what speed is your memory? your only running it at 1066mhz atm which is the default speed

i dont know much about these specs and stuff :( but the leds are related to the voltage of the cpu?
whats difference with high voltage and low voltage?
memory speed totally no idea what they are :S

pretty sure they are cpu voltage led's

well higher voltage usually results in higher temps,so its best to try and lower them asmuch as possible while still being 100% stable,to test for stability you can run intel burn test 5 runs and or prime95 blend test

to adjust your ram speed to 1600mhz which im guessing your ram speed is(it will be printed on the ram stick along with the voltage)you can look in m.i.t section of the bios and set spd system memory multiplier to 12x

then look for cpu voltage and set that to normal(it will say normal in the list)

and maybe set qpi/vtt voltage to 1.25v due to the memory now running at 1600mhz instead of 1066mhz

look through each bios page in the m.i.t section and youll see each setting

your cpu is using 1.3v atm but with some tweaking im pretty sure you could get that down to 1.25v maybe even 1.2v which will lower cpu temps and might turn off the led light

err... hm... that's the CPU Temp LED... Red means your CPU is above 80 degrees Celcius... that's a near catastrophic temperature...

in EasyTune, click on the "HW Monitor" tab then click on temperatures.... What is that reporting for the CPU temperature?

Set the CPU voltage to normal, and see how it goes... I'd re-seat the CPU cooler and possibly change the thermal paste. Everyone has a preference, I like Arctic Silver 5.

you have Temp issues my friend, and that CPU voltage is directly related. Also once you fix that your computer will run a whole lot bette too because temps above 80 degrees the CPU throttles itself a lot to keep the temperatures in check... resolve that and life will be a lot better.

Any specific way to apply new thermal paste?
also the board is overclocked by default is that why the voltage is high?

you're right, its above 80 :O its at 90 Degrees

use realtemp it will show slightly lower as easytune takes readings from the motherboard

as for overclock it was by default by gigabyte when i got the mobo etc

That's pretty bad temps,what cooler? Stock Intel one? I would get some mx4 thermal paste and take off the CPU cooler and wipe off the old paste with kitchen towel,put a tiny one or two grain of rice blobs on the CPU and spread it across with your finger so that it just covers the surface,as thin as you can then refit the cooler,if Intel push pins press down untill they click/lock into place

The stock speed of that CPU is 3.2ghz I think,and it shouldn't be hitting 90c,max temps should be around 65-70c imo

default cooler that comes with intel i7 cpu and yea the thermal paste is gettin lower and lower its old ill get new one which is better tho? arctic silver 5 or mx4 thermal paste?

Mx4 is better,I've used both those,you can load optimized defaults in the BIOS also,this will reset the BIOS to default settings
