Re: GA-Z77-UP4 TH on the way

I have had no issues with CCC crashing on me when I was installing it. Now I choose not to install it as all overclocking is being done with MSI AF or Sapphire Trixx.

Re: GA-Z77-UP4 TH on the way

I don't have any problems on any of my rigs with 12.8. But the beta wazza linked to a while back, while giving excellent benchmark performance for a while, suddenly started going crazy and crashing all the time. At first I thought one of my cards wasn't working right but after uninstalling everything and cleaning with driver sweeper, reinstalling 12.8 every thing working good.
I do all OC with Afterburner myself.

Re: GA-Z77-UP4 TH on the way

Found my problem with Qflash. BIOS could see my drive but not read or write to it, although in Windows it worked fine. Flash drive now in trash.

Still don't know why I had so many problems with RAID, but I deleted it and went back to AHCI. One SSD got trashed but I was able to rescue it with parted magic.
Think I'll stay away from RAID with SSD's until they build in support for TRIM.

wazza glad you got everything going well after bios change. Did you go back to the graphics driver beta? My setup on UD5H didn't like that driver at all, hope they tweak it some more before final release. When it did work it gave a huge boost in benchmarks.

Boon... So your q-flash problems were all because of bad flash drive? Q-flash is working correctly now?

I still never got a response back from my contact about this problem.

not yet but it was doing it with 12.08 drivers, its not doing it now,im thinking it was down to memory,it wouldnt boot at 2133mhz on f9b beta but on f9 itll boot and be stable at 2200mhz but the figures are worse than at 2133mhz so ive kept it at that, also fixed my mouse in the bios

EDIT,ill be honest it was driving me nuts to begin with as i couldnt pin it down what was causing it,thank god for f9 bios,a vast improvement

Yep, that was all. It worked fine in Windows but Qflash couldn't read it. Gotta get a new one.

EDIT,ill be honest it was driving me nuts to begin with as i couldnt pin it down what was causing it,thank god for f9 bios,a vast improvement

Re: GA-Z77-UP4 TH on the way

Here's a fun one for you wazza. This is my UD5H rig with the 2x7950's. The other day I booted up and no video. I was like wtf now? After looking around I saw one of the 6 pin cables was loose on the x16 slot card just a little. I shut it down, pushed it in tight and restarted and viola! picture again! lol.
It's the little things that kill you. Plus somehow a circuit in my Aquaero 5 blew out from all the start/stop reboots.

As far as the UP4, haven't used it much lately but it's been doing fine. Always boots right up.
Too bad they didn't have the UP5 for the same price as the UD5H, I like those extra USB ports and extra bells and whistles they put on the 5 series boards. If I stay with Giga in the future I will always go at least with the 5 series boards. Waiting to see what Haswell brings to the table and what Giga does with their boards.....

Re: GA-Z77-UP4 TH on the way

The temps seem less board dependent and more on the cpu. The 3770K cpu's are all over the map on temperature. I have one that runs in the low 90's @ 4.5 on water while stress testing, the other high 70's with an ambient around 25-26C. I see some people posting 1.3xV for 4.4, and some posting <1.26V for 4.5. All over the place.
I hope they get the whole TIM thing straightened out on the next cycle. But yours is newer maybe, they might be better now IDK. I have one from Malaysia and one from Costa Rica, lost track of which one's which. I was tempted to "kill" the hot one but I already lapped it. Didn't do any good, maybe 1 or 2C <.

Think I got my UD5H booting up better. Bumped the Vtt a little. forgot all about adding more ram a while back, lol.
