Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H overclocking

    Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H overclocking




    I am trying to overclock a Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H with a i5 2500K using the turbo method of overclocking. But when I up the turbo limits to anything the processor just sticks at its normal full speed 3.33 and does not even turbo at all even running single thread prime95. I have set the turbo watt limit to 200 and amps but still no joy. Am i missing something. On my other MSI z68a-gd65 motherboard I can overclock using turbo fine but with this board I can't. I am running with build F17 of the bios

    Hello and welcome to the forum.

    We can better support you if you could please fill in your pc specs under your profile settings and/or and a complete detailed list of your hardware into your forum sig.

    What happens if you just increase cpu multi and enable power saving. Cpu multi should drop at idle and go to set value when loaded.

    Also F18d is the latest bios for the UD3h may suggest updating bios. Another thing is make sure both main bios and backup bios are set to same versions.

      Sorry about that I have added the rest of my specs.

      I can overclock via changing the multiplier and disabling Turbo I just through its better for average overclocking to use turbo. I just noticed that f18d is available this forum so I will try upgrading and see whats happens.

        OK I have tried F18d with no change in being able to use the turbo function to overclock if I go above 38 on all cores the CPU just runs at 33. Now I don't know if this is an issue with Sandy and this board as I don't have an Ivy CPU to test. Also could it be windows 8 (I may try a drive with Windows 7 on to see).

        I can overclock by just changing the Multi on the CPU fine I can get to 42 with all settings on auto.

          Hey all...somewhat new to overclocking, but one thing I've noticed is that in diagnostic programs (CPU-Z), it shows my Memory frequency at 800MHz. I know the memory can support 1333MHz, but is it normal for it to show only at 800? It is dual-channel and I have XMP enabled in the BIOS. The voltage is also set for 1.65V.

          May seem like a novice question, but is there a way that I can get the memory up to 1333MHz? In BIOS, it's showing at 1600MHz, which really throws me off but programs like CPU-Z show only 800MHz.

            It's already running 1600MHz. CPU-Z is showing you the bus speed. DDR (2 signals per cycle) = 2x800 = 1600.

            At least that's the way I understand it.
