  • GA-Z68X-UD3H: Massive Problems! Please Help.

Ok well they're not that massive...but they are considering RMA'ing my motherboard would be a huge PITA. Anyways, here are the problems I'm experiencing.

First off, I have bought 2 different PCI-E network adapters and both of them I am getting crawling download speeds. anywhere from 200kbs up to 8mb/s. My MacBook Pro gets 15mb/s steady. I'm not sure if this is a motherboard issue or not but that's where my finger is pointing after RMA'ing one adapter and getting a better one.

Secondly, my back USB 2.0 ports are acting finnicky. My Focusrite Saffire 6 audio interface will not work properly in the back ports. When I plug it in it recognizes the device, gets power, and downloads drivers but then in sound its not listed under playback/recording. Yet when I plug it in my front case port it works just fine. Also, my steelseries sensei mouse sometimes is not recognized in the back USB port.

I tried windows update and all my drivers seem to be up to date. Legacy USB is turned on in BIOS.

Can anyone help me please?!?! Thank you :(

Whats the matter with the built in lan ports? Why did you buy 2 different pci-e lan cards? As for the usb ports, are you using the latest bios? You have IDK... In bios press the F9 key or in windows download cpu-z or ET6 and either one of those will tell you.

So your having issues with wireless adapters? Do you have any other computers you can try the adapters in? Do you have other computers that are wireless that you are comparing the speeds to?

no i only have laptops. but like is said this i the second adapter and its doing the same thing. my macbook pro gets steady 15mb/s download and around 8 upload. this adapter gets 200kb/s-8mb/s download and 5mb/s upload. uploads always seem to be steady and most of the time higher than my downloads with the adapter. btw its a rosewill rnx n50pce 300mb/s adapter.

both the usb issue and this wireless adapter issue are bugging the hell out of me :/

i have to figure it out soon though because i wont be able to rma it to newegg soon.

Post links to each wireless adapter on Newegg.
In windows Device Manager, are there any yellow warning or error icons for any devices?
Try updating the wireless device drivers using Device Manager.

nope no yellow warnings. and now randomly my adapter seems to be working good. 15mb/s which is sometimes the speeds i get on my laptop. 12-15. i think my internet stops it but this erratic behavior is weird...hopefully the adpter keeps working. i did install windows updates last night but nothing pci or lan related...hmmm.

any tips on the usb ports for now? why would my audio interface only work in the front ports and not the back. yet my mouse and keyboard work in the back ports. do you think its the motherboard? could the fact that my audio interfce is usb 1.1 have anything to do with it? though i did download the correct 1.1 drivers for the interface and my motherboard says the usb ports are usb 1.1/2.0.

Re: GA-Z68X-UD3H: Massive Problems! Please Help.

It might be due to using usb 3.0 ports.
Your front panel usb ports are probably usb 2.0.
In theory, usb 3.0 ports should work fine with 2.0 and 1.1 usb devices.

The current Etron USB 3.0 drivers on GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 (rev. 1.3) driver downloads are version 1.0.0.0109 2012/03/21.

There might be a newer driver for the Etron usb 3.0 ports.
You can update drivers using windows Device Manager or search the web for Etron EJ168 drivers.

im not using usb 3 ports. im using the usb 2 ports on the back as well as the front, yet the front only works for my audio interface. but sometimes it wont recognize my steelseries mouse in the back usb 2 ports as well. let me know what you think.

also thanks for the replies guys. much appreciated and saves me from ripping out my hair.

No, the usb 2.0 ports are Intel.
With luck, the newest Etron drivers will work well and provide a temporary fix.
The usb 2.0 problem might be fixed in a future bios update.

so its a known problem with my board? what do you recommend i do? and your suggesting i update the 3.0 drivers to use my 1.1 device for now?

sorry for the newbish questions but i havent used windows or built a computer in a while. iv been using (literally just using :) strictly macs for the past few years so im a little out of the loop.

The usb problem might just be a hardware incompatibility.
You can try temporarily disabling the legacy usb option, but this might be a problem when booting or using the bios.
Can you test with a different usb mouse?
I'm not familiar with your Focusrite Saffire 6 audio interface.
Double check that you are trying to use the rear panel usb 2.0 ports, not the usb 3.0 ports.
You could also install a rear usb 2.0 panel that connects to one of the motherboard's usb 2.0 headers.

There might be a problem with one or more of the rear I/O panel usb 2.0 ports.
Have you tested each of the 4 rear usb ports.

                            No problem with your questions.
Try testing all rear usb 2.0 ports with a usb drive or other "everyday" usb devices.

Try testing all rear usb 2.0 ports with a usb drive or other "everyday" usb devices.
well its a brand new pc. if the board is faulty im just going to RMA it. thats why im trying to troubleshoot before taking that leap.

this is the saffire 6 btw http://www.focusrite.com/products/au...saffire_6_usb/

i dont see how it would be incompatible when i know tons of people using it on windows 7. unless your saying its somehow incompatible with my board, which i still cant really imagine but who knows.
