Been moving some fan hookups around and I found out hwinfo shows the fans labeled wrong on my board.
"Power" is Sys Fan 2
"System 2" is Sys Fan 1
At least CPU fan is labeled correctly.

its not too bad those pics look worse for clearances than in the flesh, see howmuch heatsink there is at the top above the fan? i have my fan fairly low down, and i could pull it up more away from the gpu if i wanted, watercooling is expensive though and id be paranoid about springing a leak!!
Hey, you're suppose to stop everything, and remove your board from the case to take images like that for someone, so they can see the real clearance from all proper angles!!
Haha, I kid man, I kid - just giving ya a hard time can you feel it?

its no good doing a to make it better!!!!
i still had to remove my mb to fit the backplate, even though it had a cutout,it just wasnt big enough esp with the bolts so i had to lift up the mb,im using a cheapo casecom case, good though for the price and it swallowed the d14 without fouling the side panel

Actually the dremel idea might be good. My HAF case has the cutout but it's not centered on the cpu mount. It least not for the P67 & Z68 boards. If the Z77 is the same (wondering out loud) then it probably would be easier to go ahead and cut it out when my mounting kit get's here for the D14.

Ya, might as well widen it out some, I made my hole to small once on my Rocketfish, then I took it back apart and made it way huge so there would always be room for any backplate, water block, ect.
I did it. My old battery powered dremel was about shot so I bought a new corded one yesterday, much more powerful! Opened up the cpu relief on case a bit more on the bottom and left side. Will make it much easier to swap cpu coolers in the future as two of the mounting holes were semi-obscured previously. Backplate on 212+ still extends slightly under the case but at least the mounting access should be easier when I install the NH-D14 this week. For those not familiar with the HAF 922 case, the cpu cutout is offset to top and right, at least for 1155 boards.

Cool, thanks for the link. I took a fine stone and cleaned up the sharp edges, then a little flapper wheel and followed up. I think it will be OK, but good to know I can order a remedy if needed.

Anytime!! Might as well order you a few feet since it's so cheap! It's good to use, just in case you ever want to put a wire through there, so you'll know it wont get cut no matter what
