Stranger still, why did both pwm 1&3 both control cpu fan on my board? If you changed either one off 100% the cpu fan would slow down. In other words, if you left pwm 1 on 100% you could control speed with pwm 3.

Even worse, don't get a NH-D14 cpu cooler for a 2011 socket when you have an 1155! Shoot, darn, and 15 other dirty words. anyone got pics of the kit for the 1155?

i got two cpu fan headers on this asus for push/pull fans with my d14

if i were you id pick myself up a cheapo fan controller,software fan controlling is just to much of a hassle imo

this is what you need for your cooler

I'm not sure why they sent the 2011 kit. I contacted Noctua, waiting to hear back. Is it likely they'll give me the kit? I've heard if you have a sales receipt they would.

they might do idk, i know if you have the 2011 heatsink they are pwm fans on it whereas on the 1156 one they are 3pin fans which are abit noisy,so if they do send you a fitting kit youll have quieter fans

i bought mine second hand i needed the backplate and asked them to sell me one and they said buy the kit

Oh well, if I don't hear anything from them in a reasonable time I will order one. Didn't see that kit listed anywhere in the States, BTW, on a Google search, but if I have to I'll order it from Noctua.

Thanks, guys, I got one coming.
Here's the deal: Noctua will send one if you send sales receipt for the cooler, and one for either the cpu or the mobo. (as I see Ace found out)
Also found them on Amazon US finally, dunno why they didn't show up yesterday for me.
Anyway I had pulled my 212+ off and had it boxed up and stored when I opened the new Noctua and figured out something was missing! Had to dig it out and reinstall it for now.

Back to the Noctua: this thing is HUGE! First thing I thought is I need to hang supports off the case! LOL. I still need to do some measurements and see if my RAM will fit underneath.

wazza, does it look like the GSKILL I have will fit??

link me to your gskill,the d14 covers two ram slot not so much an issue if you running two sticks of 4gb as the first slot will be empty,you can raise the fan a little depending how wide your case is,i have really low profile ram now,i think if i was using the vengeance i would have run into problems

actually you might be ok,just measured my vengeance ram and they are another half inch taller,i think youll be ok if you raise the fan up abit,theres abit of clearance below the noctua anyway

EDIT ive just looked and it covers nearly all the ram slots on my board with the fan attached

Covers up the RAM and almost up against your video card.
Almost makes you want to go liquid cooling. LOL.

I just want a chance to test it out real good with the 2600K. When the new cpu's come out I guess I'll be moving it to a new mobo, and put the Z68 in a CM 302 and use it for a seed box and music.

its not too bad those pics look worse for clearances than in the flesh,see howmuch heatsink there is at the top above the fan? i have my fan fairly low down,and i could pull it up more away from the gpu if i wanted,watercooling is expensive though and id be paranoid about springing a leak!!

hottest i get with around 1.34-1.36v cpu voltage @4.5ghz ibt 10 runs on maximum is 71c,i have a brand new tube of mx4 that im gonna try,right now i used the thermal paste what came with a thermolab baram heatsink

Yeah, I could move it up if I have to. Hopefully my kit will be here Tuesday and I can get this thing mounted.
