Re: Brand new PSU on HTPC build in sig FUBAR

Ill just wait.. could be that all of the psu isnt working :( seems unlikely but never know).
Maybe since you were trying it on the "old mbrd" the connections werent quite good enough?

It would sure be annoying .. if you got a "new psu" back and it was the same on connection.

edit :nm missed some posts by a minute ..late here in Europe, GL

Re: Brand new PSU on HTPC build in sig FUBAR

Problem: switch wire. Unplugged everything off the front panel header, plugged in just the switch. Nothing. Took it off, put it back, and viola! Fans running, board LED's light up.
I think I got it licked but will continue on later.
In my defense, got a lot on my mind with surgery coming up. Usually I'm more thorough in my trouble shooting, although I didn't know the pin trick.

I'm thankful for you guys. Great resource.

LSD, I think so. Going to start loading the OS in a bit but no red flags so far, except my jumping to (wrong) conclusions.

Logging in from the new HTPC thinik I finally got all the kinks out. The wiring on the Antec case is not what I would call ready for prime time, that is where the front panel leads connect to the mobo header. But it seems to be working OK now.
Thanks again for everyone's help, check back in later.

I think on the header leads you allways put the writing side facing "into " the mbrd and not to the edge, could be wrong ,happened before back in 93 .Hey stop with the rotten fruit throwing!

Kind of a j/k boon. Me never being wrong since 93.. and the other regular posters and moderators :"throwing rotten fruit n saying boooo, hiss get him off stage!", in a metaphorical sense.
                        Dont mind me ;)

The HAF case I have, all the leads are great quality. This is the first Antec I've owned, and I'm not very impressed with it.
After fiddling with all this stuff last night, I got back to it this morning and BOOM! No power to the board. I couldn't reach the back of the mobo real well since I had all the drives plugged in so I did the paper clip trick to verify the psu worked, then took alll the wiring back apart so I could fiddle with the front header.
But it's been working fine since I got everything back together and buttoned up. I don't need to get back in the case so hopefully the switch leads won't screw up again.

I was pleasantly surprised the i3 is a lot faster than I thought it would be. But everything is installed on the SSD so that helps a bunch.

If it stops sending power again look to see if there are any LED's on the motherboard showing any sort of light. I am currently been having a issue with my PSU and/or motherboard where it could just shut off and not turn back on but the LED for the onboard power button will stay lit but will not power up. If I wiggle the 24pin connector it will make contact and boot right up. I have yet to figure out which wire is the problem or if its the 24pin connector on the board it self. If everything is working and I wiggle the 24pin cable at the connector it will shut down. For the most part it stays working.
