profjim knows more about ssd's though,im still an ssd virgin, just keep your old install on your hdd and delete off what you dont want/need regarding os files ect
I have backed up what I want and plan to wipe the drive as clean as possible.

    Currently running Intel Burn test:
    from Prof Jim
Run IBT (IntelBurnTest) or Linx x64 for ONLY 5 full loops using all available memory.
I'm running at as above with 4 threads (is that right?)

    Posting results when finished.

          A really dumb Question,.

Can I copy some installed programmes on my old HDD over to new HDD without re-installing?
I'm trying to avoid unnecessary registry writes.

yeah you can try,not all will work but most should, did you manage to see what cpu voltage was used when stress testing? in cpu-z? just trying to see if my volts are normal for stock

Do you have Service pack 1 for Windows 7 already installed ? Your IBT version already seems to be one that is using AVX instructions but you also need SP1 for them. Those gflops look a bit low for 2500K cpu.

No I don't have SP1 installed yet. The machine is still offline.
As for Gflops, enhanced halt state is enabled in Bios, that should raise them a little when dissabeled.

Note,. Prime 95 Blend test has been run for 7 hours without error.

I haven't ever noticed that those power saving settings would make anything for Gflops, I normally just keep them all on. I'll do some tests.

Found some interesting info on win 7 install regarding moving folders off SSD to HDD

                      Here it is:

Make sure that EasyTune will NOT auto start with windows.
There have been way to many ET6 issues in the past, I want to choose when to run ET6, I don't want it running in the background and possibly causing problems, such as excessively high DPC spikes.

I just made a quick test and it seems that Gflops might just a bit higher without power saving settings. This is with all settings enabled :

And this is with all settings disabled :

But those 0.3 Gflops are not free since idle power usage of my system jumps from 95 W to 144 W without power saving options.

I just realised what really is the cause of my low Gflops (By the way what is normal @ stock settings for i5 2500k?)
I am running graphics off the CPU in performance mode (still waiting for my MSI GTX 570 to arrive).

If I remember correctly you should be getting something like 80 - 90 Gflops at stock settings.

                                Current status in build:

Bios Flashed to F5 (F6 beta not flashed as it is beta, will wait for final release) Edit: I Used QFLASH!!
Mtest passed 10 loops (all tests std)
                                Mtest passed 15 loops test # 5

WIN 7 OS installed (offline) with only 1 SSD connected (problem free, unnecessarily 4k aligned inside win install manually but formating manually was helpful. Check this Vid
                                Sata drivers were pre installed.
All other Motherboard drivers were manually installed.

Changed Intel Graphics setting via VGA driver application.

Intel Burn test passed (5 passes 4 threads max memory) with seemingly lower than avg Gflops according to user "MM67". Note no GPU card installed and running off CPU graphics for now.
Prime 95 Blend test run for 7+ Hrs with no errors.
Will run small and large FFt's later.

Waiting on Prof Jim's SSD Os install guide to minimize SSD writes.

Researching how to effectively relocate Users folder to HDD data drive. ( a lot of opinions on this!) thinking about starting new thread in regards to this,..but will elaborate a little now.

Moving Users folder and subsequent libaries Win 7 to another drive:

Although I can easily create a new default save location for each libaray I want to have the entire Users folder relocated (I think ) But the issue with this is I am concerned with is some programmes hard code the default save path. Meaning These files will be stored in the original location (if it still exists) causing errors and the in ability to find them.

I have heard you can place a junction between these to avoid the above problems but unfortunately know nothing about this.

Now researching how to place a junction....
