  • GA-P55A-UD3 Unable to Overclock Anymore

I have a Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 with an Intel i5-750 processor. I had modestly overclocked the processor to 3.2GHz and it ran great. I did the overclocking in the BIOS by setting the BCLK Frequency to 160MHz resulting in a Default Clock Speed at 20X of 3.2GHz.

I subsequently did a full reinstall of Windows 7 Pro and just after the install I got a message during the POST that says the CPU was overclocked and that I needed to restore the default settings, which I did. I tried to overclock again in the BIOS and every time I get the same message. It runs completely stable at the default setting but will not let me overclock anymore.

Any ideas or suggestion for being able to overclock again??

Sounds like the bios may have got corrupted some how. Try entering the bios and load Optimized defaults. Press F10 to save and exit. Renter the bios and only make the changes need to get the system to boot. IE set ram voltages and timings, enabled raid/ahic. Press F10 save and exit. Enter Bios again only if need to set hdd boot order. Let the system boot to windows. Once fully booted restart the system renter bios and manually renter the overclock settings. Do not load them from a profile. After entering your overclock settings save and exit. Try testing for stability.

If still having Trouble make sure the system is 100% stable in default settings.
