why is it when i try an over clock and boot it corrupts the bios ? i no it is not the correct overclock because i get a double boot and a bad clock message, but instead of going back to bios it corrupts then goes to backup F6 system then boots at under 4.0ghz (29x multy) to windows with f6 but the mem is standard timmings.

i was on Beta F9A now on F8M , is the F9A a bad beta for the 980x?

What settings/voltages did you use for your oc? Each BIOS will vary in what it needs in voltage to become stable

      Re: X58 UD7 REV1 , 980x

settings here mate just for 3.9/4.0 i have others but i do not want to confuse matters theses are the first set i put in (better starting from scratch) , now i had a 920D0 before and had to set other settings on the bios , how with this 980x due to unlocked multy i thought just upping the multy would sort it, but i am beginning to think i still have to adjust other settings like with the 920, one thing can you tell me why most here are dropping the multy and upping the BCLK i thought eh 980x would be fine on 133 on higher clocks?

        Re: X58 UD7 REV1 , 980x

        2.875v CPU voltage? Or 1.275v?

Try with dram voltage and spd system mem multi set to your rams rated voltage/speed,then try with a lower CPU multi and see if it helps stability, try with a 21x190 or a 21x200, the uncore freq is different on that chip, its not 2xmem multi plus one,its about 4 or 5 less than 2x mem multi, you shouldn't need as much qpi/vtt voltage as your 920 chip either as the 980 uses less

the 980x has a min uncore ratio of 1.5 x memory multi you can run 2x or 2x +1 or +2. You will just have to add more vtt voltage to run at higher speeds. You can pick up performace with this. For your bios issue I would get it working at 1.5x memory multi.

thanks for replys, Back to F9A now since i did not input the settings correct one reason the bios corrupted.

running at just over 4.0 , this time i manually did the mem settings ect not done a prime yet ect

what you all think does anything need tweaking i do think the vcore needs raising a tad once i stress test. but you have to remember i am still on Air with the True 120 push/pull.

Looks ok to me,you need to stress test now and see if you can lower CPU and qpi/vtt voltage as much as you can

nice one , yea i tried lowering the qpi/vtt on the F8M bios at 3990 ghz , it crashed at all settings upto 1.2 so i just stuck it on 1.35 , i will test again mate but i take if i can not go lower than 1.35 this is intel safe limits i did read you can go to 1.4 but i do not really want to , the lower the better seems tobe the best option on theses chips from what i read.

                            Changed settings.

                            CPU Clock Ratio 25x
Uncore Frequency 20x (2x times best settings i read)
                            BCLK 160
                            Vcore 1.29375v

this gives me 4.0ghz dead and 800mhz mem 7,7,7,23 which maxes my memory

                            F9A bios.

                            off to test.

what qpi/vtt voltage? remember to stay within .5v of your dram voltage
