There is no regular CPU with +3 turbo multi, all are +2.
Do other CPUs can use both the +1 and +2 turbo mltipliers? e.g. i7-920 can use x21 and x22?

A i7-920 as 21x and 22x turbo. The only way you you get get 22x to work is if you manually shut down 3 of the 4 cores and run it single core or you have C5/c6 stats enabled and run a single threaded app like superPI.

I really hope its just a bios issue and that someone would be so kind to update or mod a bios so that this could work.

Also on the intel spec sheet i provided I noticed that intel states the max T case temp is 67.9c for the i7 970 and 81.3c for the x5670 xeon. But the Tj. Max on Core Temp says 100c for the i7 970 and 96c for the Xeon. Can anyone explain this?

Obviously getting all my multi's(22-24) to work on this xeon would be first prize, I can easily get to 4.8ghz stable and 5ghz even(but not stable). Can safely say I'll be giving this generation of sandy's a skip :)

Have you tested without multithreading? Tried setting 23x with all power saving/c states switched off? Maybe its interfering?

EDIT,I think the Intel temp specs are because of the manufacture process? 32nm vs 45nm? 32nm being designed to run cooler hence lower tdp?

Hi there! yes I have tried the 23x with all power saving/c states etc switched off. Made no difference.

PS: the intel spec link i provided showed you that both cpu's are using the 32nm process. Just odd that the xeon t case max temp is even higher than the 920's process.

From what I remember the other poster had a problem with a multiplier as a multiplier of a second after the BIOS.

Turbo is strange, it should not be just the other way? because the turbo gives you two of the multiplier selected.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say...?

My problem is that i want to use the x23 multi but cant. It just uses the x22 multi and with turbo enabled it jumps up to the x24 multi even though I select the x23 in the bios.
