These new drives blow everything away in speed. Are very quiet cant hear anything.

How full are those wd though? The samsungs will slow as they become full,only by 20-40mb though and don't forget they are 5400 rpm I think,but have higher density

the WD have 72gb out of 1.36tb. I think if I were booted off a different drive they would show better results but nothing like these samsung drives.

Thats whats surprising me the most is that these are only 5400 rpm and showing these speeds.

Gonna see if i can connect the 3rd drive and test raid5 vs raid0 before i put them in the other system.

They make the best 2tb and 1tb drives atm in my opinion,you'll have loads of storage space aswell

Yeah these drives are great....

Here they are in raid5.. A little slower because of the parity that has to be calculated.

Intel raid rom recommends 64kb strip size for raid5. I can select 128kb strip size. Any Ideas if 128kb stripe not good for raid5 but ok for raid0?

I have no idea on raid,maybe lsdmeasap could tell you,I would follow Intel though for raid 5,you might be ok on raid 0,even on raid5 it beats your old drives plus you have better reliability

Yeah... also to note drives were formatted in ntfs with default cluster size of 4k. I can redo them formatted in 64k cluster if you would like.

It's up to you,if they perform better then go for it,whatever gives you the best speeds

Anyone know if S.M.A.R.T is support in raid (I think it is. as linX was able to tell me my failing drive had 3 bad sectors) or a software that can read smart from raid drives.

CrystalDiskinfo wont see the array. Aida64 does not see it either.

You would think Intel rapid storage software does not show any info.

For RAID 0 you want the largest option you can select for stripe size, which is 128 on an Intel controller. For RAID 5 I am not 100% certain, but I think smaller is better like 16-32k
