I'm putting together a plan on a new PC. I've settled (right now) on the Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3 motherboard with an Intel 2600K processor. Finding the memory for it is the tricky part. I have the Qualified Vendors List from Gigabyte's site and I've been watching sales on a few other sites. One vendor I'm looking at is G.skill. The issue I'm seeing is cross-referencing what Gigabyte says works with their motherboard is not matching what G.Skill says their ram works with. It's pretty time consuming/frustrating. Example would be:
Gigabyte says F3-17066CL9D-4GBTDS works with this MB, but it's not on G.Skill's approved MB list.
or
G.Skill says the F3-14900CL9D-4GBXL works with this MB, but it's not on Gigabyte's QVL list.
I know neither company should be expected to validate all compatibilities, but should I call/e-mail Gigabyte or G.Skill to get some verification, or what have other people done other than buy and hope it works based on one vendor or the other?
Thx,
Matt
