Anyone using the Gigabyte Assassin could you please plug a 200mm or 140mm fan to Fan header #1 and tell me if the bios registers the rpm please..
Thanks

I posted an edit in my thread, wasn't sure if you saw it so I'll post it here.
I unfortunately wasn't able to find a fan that had the right header to plug into the fan ports on my Sniper. As it turns out all of my fans are either 3-pin or PSU powered.

You can connect 3 pin fan headers to 4 pin headers on the board, look close there is the same notch to line up as what you see on the 3 Pin ones.
It will be fine. As for RPM's, some may not be picked up depending on how slowly the fan is going, and it could also be software or BIOS bugs that will need addressed if the RPMs are being read incorrectly.
Maybe i should have explained in more detail about my problem.
When i connect a 200mm fan (3pin) to fan header#1 the fan struggles to start when system is switched on, when i enter the bios i get no RPM registry to Fan#1. This problem happens when i use a 140mm (3pin), 120mm (3pin) but strangely when i connect a 80mm (3pin) to fan#1 the fan starts correctly and bios shows rpm reading on fan#1. So is this a fault to my board or is it a general Bios problem? Please not that all fans tested (200mm,140mm,120mm) all work perfectly on Fan#2,3 & sys_fan. this problem is restricted to fan#1 only.
Regards.

In the meantime, I'll PM Sin0822 here and see if he can test this for you as well because he has one of those boards. Which BIOS are you using so he'll know when he tests.
If you are not already using the latest that would probably be a good idea
this is happening within the Bios (f2) under PC health status. I also use Aida64 which does not even register Fan#1, Have reported it to the guys over at finalwire but they are not sure why its happenng. I have tried the Beta bios F3d and symptoms remain the same.

Thanks for the further info, I've sent a PM to Sin0822, so hopefully he will stop by this weekend and test for you.
Does HWMonitor also show the same? It's kind of expected with software since these boards are new, but PC health and easytune should correctly display the header and RPM's, so it could be a BIOS bug which is likely since they just started adding so many fan headers to be detected (Starting with this board).
Cant get any software to even see fan#1. Its like it does not exists are far as any software is concerned. Hopefully it is a bios problem.. My dealer has offered to change the board on Monday so hopefully ill get some feedback this weekend.

Hey man, i got a 120mm fan to work just fine on the fan 1 port, next to the 4 pin molex PCI-E power right? It is a 3 pin spire fan that came with my HSF, down't spin at high RPM and easytune is showing it as working. I would upgrade or uninstall and reinstall easytune to the version available now. With finalwire i sent them a report on the G1 Assassin and they fixed it so that all the sensors worked, here is the updated version: http://www.aida64.com:8081/aida64ext...m5sk0lyfxc.zip
next I am using BIOS F2, F3D is a beta, not a final.
You should check to see if there are any breaks between the connection of the 3rd RPM sensor wire and the fan and the connector. My BIOS sees it fine and so does easytune, I tried every fan port and all of them work.
There is nothing wrong with the fans im using as they all work on the other fan headers. Its looking like a got a problem with the board then. Its pointless using Easytune as the bios is not even registering any rpm readings on fan header#1. have you tried with all fan headers connected?

No i haven't i can try that for you though, it might just be your board. Make sure that there is no screw making a short, maybe try your board out of the case? I will try all fan headers.
