  • Question about Gigabyte's dual BIOS

My Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7 recently went into meltdown and therefore reverted back to its original BIOS when Windows froze on me. By doing this will the next time when my motherboard decides to do this again will my motherboard boot? How many times will the motherboard restore back to its original BIOS anyway?

Re: Question about Gigabyte's dual BIOS

when ever the main bios gets corrupted will the back up bios attempt to reflash the main bios. This should happen each and very time with no limit. If the bios on the back up is to old or does not work with your setup you can always update the back up bios to the current main version that you are using. Do this by holding ctrl+F12 or alt+F12 at boot up make sure quick boot is disabled.

Re: Question about Gigabyte's dual BIOS

Many aren't aware that you can save up to eight separate bios profiles, where you can re-load any of the saved bios profiles from the main bios screen.
It saves having to manually re-enter all your bios settings when your bios is reset.
Check out your motherboard user manual for more information.

When you flash your bios, you should manually re-create your previous saved bios settings.
It's best to repeat stress tests to ensure that your system is stable with the new bios, as you often have to make minor tweaks.
I always save my complete bios profiles to a fat16 or fat32 floppy or usb drive, just in case I want to easily go back to a previous bios version.

      Clear as mud? ;)
