Re: Post Your Boot Up Times !!!!

You measured it with an other tool, so I did not include it. This one just measures the windows start time.

Try it with the VB script from page1, it will time a complete reboot, from the moment you press yes until you are back on the desktop, so it will include shutdown time and time spend bios screens and bootmenus.

We could also include boottimer scores, but for now most of us used the complete cycle script.

Re: Post Your Boot Up Times !!!!

Yesterday I bettered my previous times on my all-day setup, after checking the autoruns(and remove some...). Somehow this time it went through the bios screens 1 sec faster too...

so here is the new table of results:

Re: Post Your Boot Up Times !!!!

i think i would have got quicker reboot times if my hdd wasnt so full, plus i forgot to close a few running apps but nvm,ill post some new screens when i get time, and ill post some reboot times from xp just to see if the os has anything to do with it

just think when gigabyte finally implements uefi all this will be irrelevant, boot times will be 2seconds max, from what ive read

heres what to expect the bios screens to looklike using uefi on an asus board,

Re: Post Your Boot Up Times !!!!

At least it will look nicer, finally stepping away from 80x25 character mode and a proper [w]imp graphical shell. It looks like a mix of the current windows oc-tools and bios ;)

I've heard too it should boot faster, that is good, as that is the main obstacle now as you can see from my results. But some hw would still take time to init, drives need to spin-up etc. so I wonder how much difference there will be irl.

Re: Post Your Boot Up Times !!!!

yeah I like too, looks more 2010 instead of 1980. but fail to see how its substantially differing from pressing +/- in the proper menu. I've seen laptops with mouse control in bios, but this looks more flashy and oc-oriented.

the current bioses are like cli-shell to setting different aspects of the hardware, an other more graphical shell is fine with me but if it still takes the same afford/time to setup the hw underneath it's just pretty, no more... so unless something changes under the hood, I don't think it will be any faster loading an extra shell...

edit: ah! just found this: http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/24/v...dows-in-under/
There could be an instant-boot feature... that's a change under the hood for sure :D
