      Re: x58A-UD3R Rev2 FB problems

I think it is on the list...no wait...I just had a look...it is not on the list:

On the list it says the ADATA Ram it DOES recognise is:

      AX3U 1600GB2G9AG

      But my ADATA Ram is:

      AX3U 1600GB2G91G

      Slight difference.

Did I mention that Gigabyte replied to my support ticket and sent me the rar for the latest driver? It' FC2....I haven't installed it....maybe it is updated to recognise my Ram?

you mean the latest bios? if so then flash to that and see if it fixes it,they might not have included it in any bios's yet so i would try the bios they sent you first

I am testing individual strips now....will take some hours

btw....Gigabyte sent me a new bios - FC2....I can send it to anyone who wants to test it on their system

is that errors with the new bios? you could try with one or two clicks more qpi/vtt voltage and re-test,1.315v might not be enough

How did you know what setting I had the qpi/vtt voltage on?

i think i told you to try with 1.315v? just raise two clicks and test if you still get errors raise one click and keep going untill no errors show, your safe to use 1.3-1.4v but you wont need that much

                    Re: x58A-UD3R Rev2 FB problems

Ok well I made some adjustments in FC2 bios before running mem tests...but I can't recall exactly what they were...I'll have to wait til I finish work to go and look at my notes.

The memtest screen data after 6 passes:

                    ECC: disabled
                    BCLK: 133
                    QPI: 4.7
                    Wall time: 6:31
                    Pass: 6
                    Errors: 2
                    ECC Errors: 0

                    Tst: 7
                    Pass: 1
                    Failing Address: 00027f2cf40 - 639.1MB
                    Good: 09341ece
                    Bad: 093c1ece
                    Err-Bits: 00080000
                    Count: 1
                    Chan

                    Ram: 799Mhz (DDR3-1598)
                    Cas: 8-8-8-24

Low set voltage could cause error to be displayed in memtest even though Ram may be problem free?

aslong as you set dram voltage to 1.66,the errors are probably not enough qpi/vtt voltage now,you want 0 errors then you will know that ram is 100% stable

Ok...can you please tell me again what settings to use in bios?

                        The main settings...

Also...is 2 errors only in 6 passes...is that a really low number? Usually if the ram is foobar'd....would it report a lot more errors than that?

I just ask because you seem to be suggesting that I got the 2 errors due to some inappropriate bios settings. That would be good news for me...

                            Re: x58A-UD3R Rev2 FB problems

I've just come home for lunch and tried some of the bios changes you suggest...but I got instant blue screen craziness (Stop: 0x0000007e) I tried a few different voltages and frq...finally I have set the FC2 bios to 'optimized defaults' and now the PC boots normally (though I am getting something telling me there has been an error every time...something about my slave drive...but I think that's a whole other issue)

I'm going to run memtest again using all 3 sticks @ FC2 optimized settings in bios.

I discovered my Ram is not xmp enabling...that's why I can never see xmp in bios....although I have read a lot about it.

I don't know what to do really. At this stage I am thinking about buying new ram....ram listed categorically on the compatibility list.

Also...I am getting more and more interested in reinstalling the whole OS again using FC2 as the bios on optimised default setting

Of course that's a wild goose chase if I actually do have ram issues or ram slot issues

not all memory supports xmp, mine doesnt have it,you dont need to re-install the os,you just need to keep testing and raising the qpi/vtt voltage untill no errors show,if you tried 1.315v last time try with 1.33000 or round abouts this time

Ok well Im feeling positive...yes wisely reserved. I have been running memtest now for six hrs and twenty five minutes. The seventh pass is almost complete. Testing with fc2 bios using optimized defaults. ZERO errors. I almost wanted to break out the Bollinger. I don't wanna speak too soon but surely this is good news for both my ram and hardware as far as physical damage is concerned??? Right?
What now? Wait for the next chance to cold boot?
                                I'm quietly optimistic
