    Which gtx 460 to purchase ?

    Hello again. I have been having one hell of a time trying to decide which 460 to buy. I know i want the 1gb version and something with an excellent cooler on it.

    First choice was the MSI HAWK , then heard a couple bad things of them burning out quickly with not much overvolting.

    Second is the ASUS TOP- just dont like the green but ill go for it.

    Third would be the Gigabyte. They never seem to fail and have the most/best reviews @ newegg.

    I've seen possibly every review on every card but it seems everyone has something a lil different to say and its getting to be too much for me. I want to hear from actual USER experiences.

    How high can you clock from factory settings? Voltages ? Anything you can tell me to help decide.

    Long as it cools well and could maybe give me a decent 900mhz OC and isn't too ugly , its a go for me.

    msi looks a decent card to me though,ati 6000 series cards will be out before xmas maybe prices will drop?

      Cards that clock to 900MHz are in the minority. You could get that from either of the three brands. More usual would be something between 800MHz and 850MHz on reasonable voltages.

      Note that the MSI card doesn't include VRM sinks and the ASUS card's cooler is pretty noisy IMO. The Gigabyte is actually very effective considdering it's only aluminium. They're also extremely quiet all the way up to 70% fan speed, quiet as in silent IMO.

      GTX 460 prices have already dropped recently so I wouldn't expect another drop until maybe Jan/Feb, if at all.

      If you wanted to gamble a little you couldtry and pick up a Point of View GTX 465. These cards are actually GTX 470's with the full 10 RAM IC's, the BIOS has just been altered slightly. One quick flash and you have a fully working 470.

        grr thats sneaky ,a not so crap 465.

        not to get into the vrm cooler debate again
        but gainward are ok in my experience
        gs gives 700 gpu/900 mem
        gs glh gives 800 gpu/1000 mem

        gs version ,the one i have will go gs/glh speeds easily.

        gs= golden sample
        gs glh=golden sample goes like hell.
