  • movin up to I7 - need help

I've been working on my "third" build which will probably be my last (it's supposed to be future proof). I decided to move up to I7 which I knew wasn't going to be easy - My first and second builds are in my sig. - They are as rock solid now as when you guy's helped me set them up. I've been working on my Water Cooling Case for the last month and all I like is the EK UD9 water block (will be released tomorrow) which I just ordered and should be here next week. I thought maybe I should get RIG up and running on AIR before I disassemble VGA's to put water blocks on them just in case..... You never know..... Here's what I've got.....

Case: Mountain Mods Extended Ascension (liquid cooled)
    MOBO: UD9
    CPU: 980x
    RAM: G.Skill Trident F316000CL8T2-24GBTDD / 8-9-8-24 1.65v
    VGA: 2x Gigabyte GV-R597D5-2GD-B HD 5970 2GB
    PSU: SilverStone ST1500 1500watt
    HDD: 2x WD 600GB VelociRaptors 6.0 GB/s
    1x WD 1TB Caviar Black 6.0 GB/s
Optic Drive: LG 10x Blu-ray Burner
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64

What would be the best way to set up to test on AIR ??? What kind of OC ??? I have 2 Zalman CNPS9900LED's laying around - I could use one for CPU HSF. I just need advice on a good starting point on AIR ??? And like I said this is my first I7 build so it may take a little help to get me goin. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks wibujo

Re: movin up to I7 - need help

    Nice build there.

With the 980x just up the cpu multi and and vcore as needed keeping eye on core temps.

With the 980x uncore has to be 1.5 x ram multi +1 or 2.

24gb ram may need 1.3-1.4 vtt even at 133 blck. Set vtt to auto till you get windows installed and install easytune6 and see with vtt is being set then try lowering it and checking stability.

If you get stuck post full system settings that are failing.
