You can try to set optimized settings blindely.
Lowest tRD (Static tRead Value in BIOS) I was able to use with 333MHz FSB 5-5-5-18 timings was 6, and both channels driving strength set to 800.
400MHz FSB with the same timings and tRD 8 gave a little better performance almost good as 1066 with 333MHz tRD 5.

Setting lower tRD will require some stress test, but I am sure you can find Prime05 for OSX.

64-bit Geekbench seems to give comparable results on Windows and OS X, these are my results at stock speed, notice memory performance and bandwidth are almost same:
      Windows 7

      OS X

And here are results of MaxxMem2 and Xbench at same speed:

Same set of tests running at my normal 4.25 GHz settings:

I was able to use GeekBench using Rosetta. The file is here:

I consider myself very, very lucky to have your assistance in my first OC foray.

If you can't get 64-bit version of Geekbench then you should run 32-bit version, that is free and on OS X there isn't much difference in results. Running Rosetta version doesn't really tell you anything, it's just too different.

Apparently I can run both, however this requires that I disable "Quartz" - which I am not sure how to do on 10.6?

                Found this from Geekbench support:

Start the Quartz Debug utility (it ships with the developer tools) and uncheck the "Enable Quartz Debug" checkbox

That looks like a nice score, that is actually same score I got from Geekbench. Those settings gave this kind of results on Windows MaxxMem2:

Obviousely there is no way the computer boots with those settings. DDR-1600 is difficult rnough to achieve with DDR3.
I don't understand how can you have 4.00B multiplier at all with a DDR2 motherboard.

I am sure I read something incorrectly. Here is "photo" I just took of the bios settings:

To make sure I wasn't frying something of great computational importance, I ensured the Memory Multiplier was reset to 2.00 = 800Mhz.

Would I benefit from any other changes perhaps?

Thank you all so much. When I am done, I will have a very nice little write-up that mentions Gigabyte and everyone that has participated in this thread (provided there are no objects from anyone here) :-)

That's interesting, maybe they add it since they support DDR-1333.
Your not going to fry the memory by setting high frequency, but i can't believe it booted at 1600, did the computer boot at first attempt or did it loop a few times before it boot? Or did you get the red failed overclock message?
CPU PLL may be set a bit high with auto settings, set it manually to 1.57-1.59v.
Are there any tools to measure core temperatures for OS X?
