You can also save the BIOS Profile, within the BIOS, and load it anytime you want.

On the MAIN page of the BIOS press F11 to Save a profile, and F12 to load one, you can save 8 I believe

Re: new gigabyte user with GA-X58A-UD5 rev. 1 board ...help with win 7 64 bit install

As Sygnus suggested correctly IMO i tried to check on the " Intel Turbo Tech " setting in the bios. When i enable that setting making only that change in the bios the system will not boot into windows. I crash with BSOD 0x0000006B error. I can then disable it in the bios and boot fine with no errors. It has been solid with zero errors since installation and running with that setting off.

I'm beginning to think the processor is bad in some way here. Any ideas ?

      Thanks

its probably due to cpu and qpi/vtt voltage not being enough when turbo is enabled,do you mean intel turbo boost and not performance enhance turbo???? whats the current cpu and qpi/vtt voltage? all turbo does is increase the cpu multiplier

I'm speaking of the Intel Turbo Tech in Adv. Section

          Advanced Core Features [Press Enter]:

          Intel(R) Turbo Boost Tech................[Disabled] <----here

I'm not sure which CPU voltage your asking for ?

Do you mean the CPU Vcore ? mine is at 1.18125 {Auto} <--- check my settings above

          The QPI/VTT is 1.295.

Hope this helps.... again the settings are above if i posted the wrong info.

          thanks

set your cpu voltage from 1.18125 to the normal setting in the voltage list, auto will be unstable, and you can add one or two clicks up on your qpi/vtt voltage and see if its any better with turbo enabled, try between 1.3000 to 1.35000v for qpi/vtt you will need to test it

Re: new gigabyte user with GA-X58A-UD5 rev. 1 board ...help with win 7 64 bit install

Ok here's the update so far.

I Enabled Intel Turbo Boost Tech. and also disabled CPU Enh. halt C1E and the system boot fine.

So i figured why not try these settings from wazza. I have entered them all and the system is running and booting with no errors.

on " DRAM Timing Selectable (SPD) [Auto] manual set to 8x.

I don't see that. I only see Auto Quick or Expert choices there.

I was able to set 8x in the " System Memory Multiplyer (SPD) in the adv. memory.

Lastly i haven't touched my Channel A & B memory timings yet. I guess i can change them to 7-7-7-20 as suggested for all channels ?

Where would i see my current clock speed and temps ?

Sorry for all the newbie questions and thanks again.

you might not be stable with 7-7-7-20 timings idk,try it and see if not set to 8-8-8-24 you wont notice any difference, look in easytune/cpu to see your current clock speed, you will need to load the cpu to see it at full speed if you have balanced profile in win7 power saving options or you can change that to high performance setting but the cpu wont underclock and throttle voltages when its idle, download cpu-z too which is good for monitoring and coretemp for your core temperatures, when stressing cpu dont let it go above 80c

p.s. if you did go with 7-7-7-20 timings you would need to increase qpi/vtt voltage

Ok i changed the memory to 7-7-7-20 and also the command rate to 1.

I have to doublecheck but i think the Round trip latency showed 51 not 41 as posted.

I'm attaching an image from easytune and will attach another in the next post.

Windows 7 power settings in balanced were changed to Never when i installed the other day. Do you mean Processor power management state ?

                  Those are currently 5% / Active / 100% respectively.

yes i forgot you had a 930 chip, they have a 22x cpu multi compared with a 920's 21x,just disable intel turbo boost and use 21x or set bclk to 171 its up to you really, heres what i meant with balanced/high performance setting in windows but i see that the cpu is throttling anyway but by using balanced it lets you disable c1e in the bios and it will still throttle the cpu at idle,in high performance it wont throttle at all
