      Yeah the ram on my board is undervolting
      if I say set to 2.6 in bios its then its barely enough in windows
      I just ran it up so its got lots
      for 2.10v in windows while running I need to set to 2.14v in bios

        This is why we enable LLC, or "Load Line Calibration" to reduce "vdroop" into windows. If you have time, try the template I gave you. Should work well for what your looking for. IF not, good luck in your tweaking ;)

          1.The ep-45 ud3/p/r/t/l boxes used to come with 1336+ on the boxes.
          Open it up and the mbrd says 1600mhz, on mine at least.
          2.Some utilities like sandra and pc wizard will report 4.0ghz as the maximum supported cpu speed.

          Our overclockers here (Im talking air cooling only) on dual and quad 775 cpu's seem to hit 3 walls .1800 fsb with a 9x multiplier on cpu , 2000 fsb with a lower multiplier like x7 or x8 and in and around 4.0 Ghz cpu speed.
          Perhaps look at it another way .go for a high overclock that will give you 9-10 GB/s on bandwith and around 60ns latency on memory.
          utilities for checking that are like everest,sandra and cacheburst.

          I dont have any new settings really .all i can tell you is I have used mch voltage on my GiG board at 1.4v approx for 2years with at least 12hrs per day average uptime.
          I have tried 1.3v and below and it seemed ok for awhile at 470-490.

          I do have a direct temp readout of my boards mch which most ep-45 owners dont have so I have more confidence in the applied voltage.

          3.The psu is a minefield
          Conners ,pyscho ,wazza and others have pointed out the inconsistency of amperage ratings.
          My own psu is 500w rated,but any decent gx card from even the 8600Gt up is supposed to be 24 amp@ 12v .

          Its like ,ok the twin 12v rail
          1 side is supposed to be for cpu and mbrd.
          The other "rail" is supposed to be for ancillaries: gx card fans,hdd ,spare molex connectors.
          The single rail is now split into like up to 4 and thats supposed to be a good thing?
          We need one 25 amp rated 12v rail for gx card the rest can be industry rated 18 amp.even with a cpu overclocked..
          A lot of "hi end " power supply units seem to be rated 18 amp max on 2 ,3 or even 4 12v rails.
          That leaves us "mr consumer" juggling which items get powered off which rail.
          gx cards are supposed to get a max of 75 w though the pcie slot.Each 6 pin power connection is supposed to draw a max of 75 w,
          so a 460 gtc gets like a max of 75 w from the gx card slot,then up to 75 w from the 6pin closest to the card edge(highest power draw) then up to 75w from the next x6 pin connector.
          How are we supposed to juggle the 12v"rails"

          Rail A the mbrd/cpu/pci supply.x c\rd takes 170 w ..maybe with o/c
          Rail B the main gx card one..say another 60w
          Rail C the secondary 6 pin gx card one say another 30-40w.
          Rail D ancilliaries like hdd ,dvd etc.

          The 3 and 5v stuff seems to be more server orientated,


          Does anyone know of a 60 amp +12v pc psu with all the connections, single rail? to save the juggling>?

            Yes Kick the power supplies are a mess in their ratings systems
            Seems to be little conformity.
            Lot like the RMS power of amplifiers of some years ago all kinds of wild numbers out there.
            makes it pretty tough to choose accurately.

              A single rail psu isn't necessary with a properly designed psu.

              In this case there are two 25 amp rails dedicated to video cards.
              25 amps = 300 watts, where 25 amps times 12 volts = 300 watts per rail.
              Psu over current protection per rail is often set 10 - 20% higher than the rated capacity for each rail.

              You never want to buy a psu where video card connectors are installed on the same cable, each video connector should have its own individual cable.
              FWIW, HardwareSecrets, JonnyGuru, PCPER, and HardOCP have the most demanding psu tests and always include rail/cable setups.
              Usually these sites will tell you which OEM made each psu model.

              **edit** To better understand the how to interpret the true "real" output for each psu rail, check out PSU rating's...let's understand the label at BlazingPC, which gives an easy to understand, non-technical explanation.

              The TP-750 psu exceeded 920 watts total output during several reviews.
              If you don't understand the psu label, you might think that this psu is rated to output a total of 1200 watts on all four 12V rails (25 x 12 x 4).

              Check out the ARTICLES section at HardwareSecrets for more psu information and how less than reputable manufacturers play the power rating game.

                Hey Pro J,
                I know the old V*A=W thing.
                Some of the fans I rescued from old pcs ,I thought would be good for extra cooling were rated in amps.Like a 9cm one at 2.0amps,thas like 24w!(no thx).
                Your psu seems good to cover all eventualities,but
                The vid card has now got 3 power inputs,the pcie slot and then extra 6/8 pin connectors.
                sli/xfire 6 seperate power inputs,n no point in going into 4 vid card fun wiring ,shiver.
                You know the way gx card manufacturers then bring out "silent",massive heatsink low power cards with all power coming from the pci slot.
                Up until recently at least the twin rail /triple rail were all just power limited circuits off a single 12v transformer.
                I suppose we have to trust the on board power switching on the gx card.
                good ol occt seems to be good for psu testing/ripple/voltage stability etc.
                Anyway dont want to hijack tyres thread,thx for the info .Ill check it out.

                    Are you just saying that? because if I wasn't comfortable making you a template try, Id be doing nothing but wasting my time. IF you cannot run Prime95 - blends / small FFT's / and large FFT's for 4 hours each.. then what you think you have stable, is not. I also toss a 2000+ memory IBT 1 hour run in for good measure. I actually start with that. Then move onto Prime95.

                    If your have an E8400 E0 then guess what. 95% of your cpu variables are the same as mine.

                    My original 4.0Ghz template was someone elses.. worked 1st shot. I then refined and it tweaked it to "my" likings. ( mostly just tightening memory timings )

                    Another tip.

                    Do you know what tRD your using?

                    For me to run tRD 8 ( I had to boost my MCH to 1.26v and my dram to 2.08v ) IF not Prime95 blends fails within 15min.
                    For me to run tRD 9 ( I could drop my MCH to 1.24v and dram to 2.04v ) But in doing so, I lose roughly 1 gFlops of processing power.

                    So back to tRD8 for me ;)

                      I never expected one way or the other if would be stable with those settings suggestions I wouldn't know till i tried them but one things for certain I do know....it ran longer before with less volts and acceptable g flops
                      In Lots of 8400 forums posts g flops and IBT are not the be all and end all

                          Bios F-9 now is it better 'bout same maybe not sure
                          I did test small fft and large on orthos 2 hours each first and did the special flop processor test on orthos in the drop down test only 'bout 25 minutes
                          Then LinX test

                          Then did orthos blend after LinX and it failed after 'bout 65 minutes
                          Trying smaller MCH, northbridge now at 1.24

                            Your CPU term is a bit close to your CPU core. Might want to dropt hat to 1.20v rather then 1.22v. Without LLC enabled, your vdroop is going to be a bit more then mine.

                            In my bios with LLC enabled. I have my Vcore set to 1.348 but in windows under full load its only 1.328. So my cpu term of 1.30v is fine.

                            You might be cutting "that" particular value a bit close.
