Ok sorry for the delay in responding guys - Ive been on holiday lol :P

But anyway, ordered a new PSU - Antec Truepower Quattro 850W

First I reset the RAM settings to default - Windows 7 install freezes at 10%

Then I put the RAM settings to 8-8-8-24 / 1600mhz / default QPI voltage - system reboot during windows install

I upped the QPI voltage to 1.315v (from the default 1.175v) - again, system reboot during install

So im guessing its not the PSU?

do you have floppy drives disabled in the bios? from boot order and disable drive A,i felt sure it was the psu but its hard to be 100% sure,you can return it for refund within 7 days

PS: Im not sure how relevant this is but when running memtest I get the following information - 2048mb, DDR3, 1598mhz, 8-8-8-24 and then PC3-8500 (when the RAM is labelled as PC3-12800)

Yes, floppy drives are disabled in the BIOS

i dont know what that could be,could be software error,tried installing os with just one stick installed in the first white slot from cpu socket?

Yea it makes no difference really if there is 1 stick or 3 sticks slotted in :S
Could it be faulty RAM? I did get all those memtest errors that i posted previously

it could be,all you can do is go through each component now untill you hit on whats faulty,i wouldnt say its cpu as its rare that they go wrong,it only leaves ram which is what id replace/rma first then the motherboard,but theres a deffinate fault somwhere as you shouldn't need to do anything in the bios at stock you should just install everything and load win7 without any issues,only having floppy drives enabled usually causes freezing thats all

Ok thanks. The only thing that hasn't been replaced so far is the RAM so I guess ill try and RMA that to see if it makes any difference.

Can you recommend any specific RAM or should I just go for a direct replacement of the OCZ gold im currently using?

its up to you really,you can try for replacement with same ocz gold as ocz are good with rma,ive had no trouble with my ram but i bought it when ram was cheap,they carry a lifetime warranty so if you explain the problems and that you replaced mb and psu and same problems/errors ect with ram and that you want a replacement with a different batch im sure they will send out a new set,if its still giving errors/freezing with a new set of ocz gold then i would try diff brand like corsair xms or kingston

EDIT: i found review on this site for ocz gold,alot have been having faulty modules you may just have a bad batch

Ok then, Im thinking of going for 6gb 1600mhz Corsair dominator XMS3 RAM.

Ill let you know how this works out. Thanks for your help.

EDIT: actually it will be a direct replacement - not sure I can change the RAM when going through eBuyer.

Well at the moment its going back to eBuyer - they coluld only offer me a direct replacement, so lets hope if it is the RAM that this isnt a bad set too :S

Hmm....but with a single stick in has run memtest 11 times now with no errors.
The previous errors i posted were with 3 sticks in.
Still wont install the OS though with only the 1 stick.

try with two sticks and install os? it should work with one stick without touching anything in the bios,i can boot into windows and run the pc fine with only one stick
