  • Gigabytes lan ports

I was wondering if you knew if the the ports on the ep45-ud3p and the ex58-ud5 are auto switching. Meaning can I use a patch cable to connect the two together or do I have to use a crossover cable? I haven't tried it yet but I thought the new lan ports could detect this and auto configure. I could be confused about this.

I was thinking of turning my old q9650 into a server/media recorder instead of letting it collect dust. So to test things out I would like to use the second ports on both boards to talk together on their separate network.

    Re: Gigabytes lan ports

They can only be connected using Teaming software, for intranet use not internet use.

Not sure if what you need to do will work with that, but you can try it out.

If you install the diagnostic Tool on your install CD you will find the teaming options so you can try what you are thinking about doing.

There is also several threads with more info on teaming posted in this section, just search from the main Gigabyte page for teaming

If the file is not on your install CD, I uploaded it for you here
