    Re: i7 930 bug

The heat and voltage differences at 4.2 are pretty crazy, not really worth it IMO. Im really surprised i got away with using the voltages that i did. Tried a 4.3 run and it wanted more and more QPI. Otherwise, i think i got a pretty good chip this time .

I can run mine using less voltage to get 4.2ghz - Seems i get more heat than you though, thats what i was saying.

Ahh so your sticks were maybe faulty or incompatible? And the new ones are fine? Hmm, do they work in your brothers PC since you mentioned you swapped them?

Its funny since the sticks were EXCELLENT with the 920. Ummm my bro don't know i swapped them lol... gonna try and clock his up to see what happens. He isn't as nutty about this kinda thing as i am and is only concerned about being at 4ghz, rams around 1450 right now.

Did some runs last nite, just to see how high we could take this chip. Boots at 4.5 , wont boot at 4.6 . Gets to the windows loading screen where the logo spins together ... then freezes. Gonna tweak a few more things , i'd like to see what happens.

Very satisfied. Could possibly cut some other voltages down and get her down to 80c. Thanks all !

Hmm, maybe the 920 has a better IMC? So your image above, this is with his memory now and not your other set?

                  Re: i7 930 bug

Yes, the screen above is with the new set and is my 24/7 setting. I did reduce my multiplier to 19 and up my blck up to 216 this way i can run my RAM at 1728 , but my cpu is clocked to 4.1 this way. Needed a ton more QPI voltage and temps were about 3c warmer. Would i be better off performance wise with the extra 128 mhz ram clock but 100 mhz less cpu clock, or just stick to the 4.2ghz / 1600 settings? Im sure 100 mhz on the cpu already clocked this high wont see a difference besides while benching.

i just did a quick run with same program i only tried 4ghz but with normal (1.18750)cpu v and 1.36000 qpi,had to underclock my ram to 1540mhz i think
