Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5

Hello iam using GA-X58A-UD5 the system runs with Corsair Dominator GT 1600Mhz default clock Triple channel 7-7-7-20 total memory 6GB 3x2 kits but only 4Gb usable by the system the OS IS x64 windows 7 any idea what's wrong? i have also updated to the latest bios version available F5 the Rams are installed correclty in the right slots DDR3_1 DDR3_3 DDR3_5 (White slots) Bios reports only 4GB of ram available thanks in advance.

you have to test each stick one at a time in the first white slot from cpu socket,if alls well it will boot up with one stick,test all 3 ram modules if they all boot into windows then do the same test for the socond,third white slot,again they should all boot into windows if there working...if a ram module wont boot from one slot but will boot from the other slots then the ram slot on the motherboard is faulty

Hi and thanks for the quick reply i have tested each memory as you said all the Rams are working in the first white slot and in the second slot but the problem occurs in the third white slot it doesn't boot. Here are the manufacturer instructions when enabling 3 channel mode with three memory modules,be sure to install them in the DDR3_1 DDR3_3 DDR3_5 SOCKETS.If only one DDR3 memory module is installed, be sure to install it in the DDR3_1 OR DDR3_3, so i guess this is why the one memory module doesn't work in the third slot.

no it should boot with one stick in slot #5 if its working,i know ive done this test myself if it doesnt then you should rma the mb explaining the problem...you have a faulty #5 ram slot

Hmm weird but the manufacturer says If only one DDR3 memory module is installed, be sure to install it in the DDR3_1 OR DDR3_3 it doesn't say anything about socket DDR3_5 it seems is not supposed to work in socket 5 ?

if socket #5 is the last white socket from cpu then yes it should boot from any white socket,with one stick in any white slot,its not booting becuase its faulty,does it say c1 on motherboard l.e.d clock??? it might say 88 or c1.have you tried all three sticks one at a time in slot #5???? wont it boot with any stick?

Yeah, that's precisely what you should do eso, boot with any stick. Once it posts, turn off the board using it's "blue" POWER button. Next, install the 3 RAM sticks (Slots #1, #3 and #5, the white ones) and you should be fine.
Also, I know some users that need to insert 1st stick and boot. Turn off PC, install 3rd stick and boot. Turn off PC, install 2nd stick and it works.

ESO the problem isn't your memory on this board you if I'm correct are using Dual channel memory therefore your board will only be able to use 2 sticks of your memory however if you were to switch to Triple channel memory then you would have no problem with this. I have been back and fouth with Gigabyte about this in past month and for some reason still have come to no conclusion. Just think I have total of 8gigs of ram 4 gigs in which I can't use because they are also dual channel. Also with these boards I have found out that as far as with memory you want to do it in group of 3's being TRIPLE channel. fyi.

Above is where you should have your each of your dual (again assuming you have dual channel memory) installed. Now if you had three (Triple channel) memory then you would install them as above using the last one as well. However these boards only support 2 slots of Dual Channel Memory (thanks Gigabyte)

why do you say the latest bios is F5 when the latest for the EX58-UD5 (rev 1.0) is F11?
Do you have an EX58-UD5P, or an EX58A-UD5?

This motherboard supports up to 24GB of ram triple channel and the motherboard is Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 SATA III.

Yeah, the differences between Gigabyte X58 and X58A UD5 boards are the SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0 supports.
So, what gives? Have you tried anything from the above suggestions? Does the BIOS recognises the 3 sticks already?

It should boot with any single stick, in any white slot.

Sounds to me like you have a bent CPU Socket pin or two. Have you checked this, be very careful when you do. This is what I would advise you check first as this is often the cause of missing memory or channels, especially when trying to boot one stick at a time at stock to test.

When you boot with all three sticks, at stock optimized defaults (Not manually set 777-20), do you see N/A listed for the last or any of the channels in the MIT Section of the BIOS? If you do, then you either have a faulty slot, or more likely a bent pin or two.
