Re: Trying to get stable with a new OS[W7x64Pro]

Advanced timing will scale correctly with auto settings.
You can calculate their value with the formula 533/400 x JEDEC_VALUE rounded up.
    e.g. tRFC wil be 533/400 x 51 = 1.3325 x 51 = 67.9575 = 68.
Usually a much lower, near JEDEC value, is possible.

Even though I stuck the 1GB modules in I'll follow that formula. Much appreciated!

Interestingly enough, I thought that the 1GB modules had the full JEDEC Table for 533MHz... Only partial

Doesn't matter much most values in EPP are usually the same as in the JEDEC profile except tRC.

Re: Trying to get stable with a new OS[W7x64Pro]

Last two days I've been busy, had no chances of testing or tweaking.
I have made two profiles, both have passed P95:Blend at more than 5 hours. Friday morning was the end of the last test.

One thing I've noticed is that CPUZ bounces vcore 1.312 to 1.328 during idle with these settings on both memory multipliers.
I never saw this happening during load, but I'm going to go back and check that, let you know what is found. I've read that this concerns Vdrop/Vdroop(not sure if those are actually to separate things. I'm looking around for reading material on the topic), but I'm not sure at this point if I have a lot of it? If I should even be seeing it during idle? Need more information on this!

Search terms; 'finding vdrop/vdroop', 'fixing vdrop/vdroop,', 'understanding vdrop/vdroop'

I'll have to test it, but I think that if I lower my CpuRef to .790, then CPUZ vcore shows 1.328. However, I might be wrong about that, but I don't remember the CPUZ vcore bouncing when I had the CpuRef at .815, showing 1.312 CPUZ vcore. I'll check that out too and let you know what I find.

Now I can start testing with that formula you gave me and test the advanced timing, one step at a time. One long test after each Advanced Timing adjustment.

When I set the memory to 2.50A, before running P95 I was noticing this sound in my headphones that sounded like a beep with serious reverb. Checked my settings and found that I had tRFC at 52 running at 1066MHz. So I set it to to 68 and rebooted, the sound does not seem to be happening anymore. Before I ran P95 on the 2.50A settings I lowered tRFC to 64, then ran P95... It passed, so I'll use that value. 4 less then what the formula produced.

Vdrop = Amount set in BIOS vs amount shown in windows at idle.

Vdroop = Amount in windows at idle vs load

Re: Trying to get stable with a new OS[W7x64Pro]

My Vcore flip between exactly those two voltages, not a complete idle. but I wouldn't worry about it.

You can play with the formula around, e.g. you had tRFC 52 with a 2 multiplier,
2.5(new multiplier) / 2(old multiplier) x 52(known stable for old multiplier) = 65(probably will be stable for new multiplier).
With increase voltage usually lower timings than those in JEDEC can be used.

BTW Lsdmeasap is back, send him a pm see if he can grant you full access to the forum.

Welcome back LSD, hope things are going good!

Thanks for the info on vdrop vs vdroop.

My Vcore flip between exactly those two voltages, not a complete idle. but I wouldn't worry about it.
It's not worry, I'm just wanting to learn as much as I can about overclocking. I appreciate all the help you've offered, I have gained knowledge from it, thank you!

Just got done running a LinX test to check the vdroop.
During idle(29c-31c on water), 1.312/1.328. During load, 1.312. BIOS vcore 1.34375, running 67c at load on IBT, never goes above 58c on P95. One thing I've noticed, core#0 always sticks at 31c, never goes lower. I've read that it is due to a faulty temp sensor with a batch of CO steppings. This particular e8400co came from Fry's in Oregon, during a combo deal I picked it up with a mATX Biostar G31-M7 TE for $189. It was like they were giving the MB away. Which was really how much it was worth.

                This is at 3825(2.50A)1063 settings.
IBT average 26.3 GFlops in 56.085 seconds, using 1408MB.. Slight improvement.

                Hyper Pi @ 3825(2.50A)1063

                @ 3825(2.00D)850

I know that if I tighten up the timings on both of theses, the timings will go down.

All 45nm processors suffer from stuck DTS sensors.
Super PI results may be inproved I doubt you'd see any change in IBT as result of tighter timings.
Keep us posted on futher OC/progress you make.

Thanks! It is SO nice to be back, I missed all you guys a lot while I was offline!

Good luck tweaking, any reason why you are running A straps in testing? Just wondered, as it is not a better thing really on newer boards
