Re: Trying to get stable with a new OS[W7x64Pro]

"Was the stutter issue in the game solved?"

Have not played any games yet, so I don't know?

"It is quite interesting you had to change CPU Reference and by that much. Usually it is the MCH Reference that need adjustment, CPU Reference at higher speeds."

I don't know. In XP32, could use 1.34975, VTT1.28, CpuRef.760=.810 and pass P95 and IBT with slightly tighter settings then Jedec@533. Never had to adjust MCHRef on the XP OS. Though in XP my MCHRef was 1.28, but I've lowered that. Think I should lower it to 1.24 for these new modules?

"So maybe it is worth trying a step down MCH Reference if the stutter problem still persists and see if it is solved."

I will try MCH1.24 than play some BF2:PR.
I've tightened up the memory to Jedec#0@400MHz, but have the voltage at 1.9VDRAM-
Going to save Jedec#0,400MHz and MCH1.24 to BIOS, than play some games and let you know about noticed jiter and/or crash/c2d/BSOD that may occur!

Machine booted sluggishly, task manager would respond slow, BF2 & BF2:PR would not start and task manager said the applications were not responding. Rebooted to BIOS and only changed MCH back to 1.26. Machine seemed snappy, task manager selection screen and dialogue responded quick and the game applications properly loaded, but have yet to be played. As I thought I would log noticed results after the change.

I'm going to go test some things and I'll get back with what I changed and what happened from the change!

      Any thoughts?

I think I'm going to up the volts and such on the cpu. Otherwise, with one memory setting slightly different of Jedec, the new addition of this memory sure feels snappy.

No errors yet, will report back if I find any. Need to run P95 tonight with this memory set the way it is.

Re: Trying to get stable with a new OS[W7x64Pro]

          Is this your target OC?

I find it useless to change any memory settings that does not show any substential gain in performance.
It may be possible to use 4-4-4-12 timings with the memory spec voltage to 1066, unless you want to try 2.40B for DDR-1020.
tRD is the first thing to look at for gain in performance, 8 is probably possible (maybe with tighter timings or higher memory frequency.)

IBT results are about the same as mine with 1536MB. Useually the E8xxx results with ~5% better GFlops due to it's larger cache.
I'll make a run with 1408MB sometime for comparison.

            Is this your target OC?

No, not exactly! I would like to get to 4GHz, but before I do I would like to have some time testing voltages at this freq. I'm trying to understand just how the voltage balancing works! Doing a lot of these test has helped me get a good understanding!

I want to have a freq of 3825 stable at 850MHz and 1063. Then the same with 4GHZ, 1:1 memory setting and at 1066 or right around there.
            I'm complicated like that!

...Useually the E8xxx results with ~5% better GFlops due to it's larger cache.
I'll make a run with 1408MB sometime for comparison.
This is a result that I was happy with, but the voltage is lower then what I'm using now-

            What I thought was good
            Code:
            25.79 GFlops in 57.291 secs

Re: Trying to get stable with a new OS[W7x64Pro]

It depends if the 2.50A multiplier will work at 425MHz FSB, 2.40B may be good alternative. DDR850 should be possible with CAS 4 but will need higher voltage.

In any case base your settings on benchmarks not the numbers in BIOS alone. Memory benchmarks or benchmarks that are effected by memory performance like Super PI.

Re: Trying to get stable with a new OS[W7x64Pro]

I did this just to see if I could get my machine to crash- 'high' priority setting.

                Did not crash!

                This was on 'normal' setting.

                This was on 'high'.

While running the 8M at high priority, Hyper Pi was disappearing, moving around and different parts of the GUI would flash?
This did not happen at 'normal priority'.

                    Yes, 4/5*533=426.4, 2.1-2.2v.

Re: Trying to get stable with a new OS[W7x64Pro]

I was having this issue of games would drop to desktop once a map is loaded up. It would not crash the game and stop it, just drop to desktop and the game would still be running. Just have to click the taskbar icon to get back into the game. Thinking of what could be causing it, I checked over my XP OC notes and found that I had this issue with XP as well when MCH is set at 1.26. I bumped up the MCH voltage and tested 'entering games' and at MCH1.28, games were no longer dropping to desktop.

Other than raising the MCH, was there something else I should have done that you can think of?

As of right now, these settings have run in P95:Blend at 7hrs and 32 minutes, error free. I will run this test to the 12hr mark.

Once I've found these settings stable in P95, which I will, I'll run some 'Hyper Pi' test and start tweaking the MCHRef to see if I can get the Hyper Pi timings to tighten up.

Yes tweaking MCH Reference it may enable you to use lower MCH Core.

The timings in memset don't read the same as the BIOS settings?

Thought I ran for 12 hours. Never have my PC on that long anyways, unless for testing.

Going to test the MCH Ref tweaking tomorrow. I'll post more findings later!

                            Some of them don't http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/memo...vs-bios-27283/

Good luck with your further tweaking and testing!

Re: Trying to get stable with a new OS[W7x64Pro]

I want to get a BIOS set for 3825MHz(2.50A)1066MHz on my KHX8500D2K2/4G. However, the 4GBs of PC8500 does not have a 533MHz JEDEC table programed into the eprom for Advanced Timings so I'm not sure where to set my 'Advanced timings'. I don't want to set them at JEDEC 400MHz, that might be to tight. To loose and I'll be testing for days bring down the timings to tighten up the latencies. Don't want them on automatic because they 'might' change during some kind of process, or so I assume! Unless it's a 'dynamic value'(like burst length[?]), which I'll then leave on auto.

I've looked for this answer on the net for a little over a day now. I'm thinking of just putting in my 2*1GB KHX8500D2K2/2GNR and pulling the 533MHz JEDEC Table of that and starting slightly loose!

I just don't understand why the 1GB KHX8500D2K2/2GNR module gets the 533MHz table, while the 2GB module of the same serial does not get the 533MHz JEDEC Table?

EDIT:I'm going to switch out the modules real quick, after BIOS config for proper booting, and get that table from the KHX8500D2K2/2GNR... *******[Back at some time and repost diagnostics]...
