    Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU

Try the following changes for 3.8GHz.
Remember to 2-3 passes of memtest86+ before attemting to run windows.

      Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU

Chike, I've been very busy at work this past week. Was able to do about 40+ hrs. testing. I have trouble trying to run 450,475,and 500 CPU Host Frequencies at 3.60GHZ,3.80GHz,and 4.00GHz. I tried every Strap in BIOS. I finally got 3.60GHz (450x9) 3.33D test to pass 3 passes of Memtest - took at least 15 different adjustments in BIOS to get it to pass Memtest (errors Pass #2 Test #4 several times) - Failed Prime95 second test Core0. I ran IBT Standard test and CPU temp reached 67c - So I was afraid to run IBT Max because I'M not sure what temp to abort test with. For some reason my HSF fan turns 1890 to 1917 RPM's at idle even though System temp is 31c and CPU 27-28c??? I'm comfortable running 3.60GHz (400x9) I just need to finish my testing to get it 24/7 stable. I was wondering what this MOBO (RIG) would perform like with my Core2Duo E8600??? Could I get your thoughts and opinions on that???

        Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU

67c CPU temp or core temp?
Can you post the settings you had for 450x8 3.6GHz (I assume 450x9 is a typo)?
If you want to stay with 400MHz FSB you can try 3.8-4GHz (400x9.5, 400x10)

          Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU

Chike, When I ran IBT Standard Test [3.69GHz (450x8)] my CPU temp was 64c to 67c - My CPU core temps were 56c to 59c. I'll put BIOS settings below. I'm currently running my RIG 3.60 (400x9) 3.33D/1333. It's very stable. I'm not sure if I can run my multiplier 9.5 or 10. I tried to once and the BIOS kicked it back to 9. I'll try again and let you know the results.

Oh right sorry, max CPU multiplier is 9, I was condused by your question about the E8600.
            MCH Reference is 0.74 @ 1.2v have you tried 0.72 @ 1.2v?
Have you tried to adjust CPU Reference? Not sure if it will be up or down with quad.

              Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU

Chike, Here' the results of MCH Reference Test: Vtt at 1.28/ 0.68=0.730 (Boot loop)/0.70=0.750 (no error but froze up Pass #1 Test #4)/
              0.72=0.770 (errors Pass #1 Test #8)/0.74=0.790 (errors Pass #3 Test #4 twice) I upped the DRAM Voltage to 1.45v (ET6 1.42v) and I Passed
Memtest but failed Prime95 - Core0 test#2. I did play around with CPU Reference but I couldn't figure out if I need to move it up or down. You can definitly tell the diffrerence in the speed between the 400 and 450. If need be,I'll go back and try again and take better notes.

                Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU

Try VTT 1.3 also and MCH Core 1.28v.
Maybe you'd have better lick with lower FSB, try 445MHz.
Best ask in G.Skill forum if it's OK to run those modules with 1.45 at 1600MHz.

                  Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU

Chike, Tried the Vtt 1.3 and MCH 1.28 (all other settings were the same as before) - Failed Memtest Pass #3 Test #4. Lowered FSB to 445/4.00GHz(445x9) Vtt 1.30 and MCH 1.28 (all other settings were the same as before) Passed 3 passes of Memtest. Would not make it to desk top - so I increased Vcore to 1.35 and made it to desk top. Went back in BIOS changed to 3.78GHz (445x8.5) Vcore 1.33750/Vtt 1.30/MCH 1.28. Passed 3 passes of Memtest - So I went back in BIOS and lowered Standard Timings to 6-7-6-20/Advanced Timings Autoed/tRD 7. Ran 5 passes of Memtest (no errors) and Prime 95 Blend 6 hrs.(no errors). I think this is the best my RIG has ever ran. I went to G.Skill Forums and posted my success and failures (in the same thread they recommended this RAM) with this RAM. Still waiting to hear from them. Without increasing DRAM voltage I just don't see much more room for improvement with current RAM. I'm totally satisfied with the results you helped me achieve with my new RIG. Thanks Again

What are Prime95 core temps now?
                    I didn't think 6-7-6-20would hold over DDR-1420 (426MHz FSB), and tRD 7 at 445MHz FSB, that's nice.
Have you ran IBT yet? Consider core temps may get 10-15c higher than Prime95.
How are the memory performance now?

I noticed GFlops were only 41. on the IBT Max Test I ran yesterday - I have a screen shot of that test - if need be I'll send it to you. I tried to run IBT Max Test this morning and it failed during test #5. I upped DRAM voltage to 1.45 (1.42) Ran IBT Standard - GFlops 51. / Core Temps 59c. Ran IBT Max Test - GFlops 48. / Core Temps 59c. I used Core Temp for the testing I did this morning.

52+ GFlops is what I would expect for your OC, I wonder what could be the reason for the difference, usually max stress level yields a slightly better results.
Try LinX and see if results are the same. Always run benchmarks when the system is at complete idle, with less as possible programs running.
Make sure tRD and other settings are equal for both channels.
Try to find the point where GFLops drop, with memory manually set to 2048, 3072, 409,6 5120, 6144.
Maybe it's time to explore other option like channels clock skew or reference voltages.

I ran IBT Max - GFlops 54.000+ (tRD might have been holding back). That's a 6 point increase. Core temps hit 61c. To run tRD at 7 I'll need to get reference voltages just right. I'll keep tweaking on them till I get them right.(if it's possible) Thanks again.
