Just got this RIG up and running. In CPUID-HW Monitor it says my 12v rail is less than 1v. - The PSU fan is turning very slow.Brand new PSU - I was wondering if there is some test I can do to see if I'll need to RMA it.I was wanting to get you to help me tweak my RIG - But I think I need to resolve this problem first.I'll get back with you after work.Any help would be appreciated - THANKS

Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU
Go into the bios PC Health screen and see what the reported voltages are.
Make sure that all displayed values are correct.
Do you have a friend who has some basic electrical knowledge.
If yes, see if he has a DMM (Digital Multi-Memter) and he can check voltages at several places on the psu connectors.
You can also verify if other software monitoring programs display similar values.
Which version of HWmonitor are you using?
EasyTune6 might show 12 volt readings in one of its panels.
The attached diagram shows standardized psu connectors and the voltages associated with each wire.
**edit** Make sure that all the psu connectors are fully seated, especially the 24-pin and 8-pin connectors.
With your system turned off AND your psu switched off, remove and re-seat all psu connectors.Attached FilesLast edited by profJim; 02-24-2010, 08:14 AM.Q9650 @ 4.10GHz [9x456MHz]

Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU
Thanks for the help.I removed and reseated all power connectors. The voltages I was able to check with volt meter were fine.I checked the 12v voltages with several different programs.BIOS PC Health was (12.175v)/ET6 was (12.175)/CPUID HW Monitor 1.15 64bit was (0.83)/PC Wizard 2010 was (0.97)/OCCT was (0.83)/Everest was (1.79).Everest said they were not familiar with this MOBO - I'm very puzzeled with this - I'm hoping this is a BIOS problem that will be fixed with the next BIOS update.Do you have anymore suggestions?Do you think I should pull my Antec 750 Blue PSU out of my other RIG and swap with the CP-1000?And check my voltages again.Could it possibly be any settings in BIOS?To be honest with you - I can't believe this RIG booted first try and showed all 8gigs of RAM.No BSOD's or freezes.Everything seems good except for the 12v voltage readings.I have a good feeling about this board.OCinnnnng

Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU
It's my understanding that the IT8718 chip "handles" voltage monitoring.
My EP45-UD3P (rev 1.0) has no problems with monitoring voltage values.
I've had issues in the past with two other Gigabyte models where some program versions incorrectly reported some voltages. Most of these programs later came out with newer versions that eventually corrected the problem.
Several years ago, both of my GB mobos had software voltage reporting problems, even though HWmonitor and other programs supported the IT8718 chip in other mobo brands. My best guess is that in some cases, this problem might be partially caused by bios versions.
You can try your TP-750 psu, but you'll probably find the same weird results.
It's possible that this is a bios issue.
I suggest that you contact Gigabyte tech support via email and provide the details in your post.
Including the results with your TP-750 should make it clear that it's not a psu issue.
FWIW, my TP-750 psu has no voltage reporting problems in my P35-DS3L backup system.
Here is technical info on the chip from iTE Tech, if anyone is interested.
**edit** It sounds like your CP-1000 psu is okie dokie.Last edited by profJim; 02-24-2010, 09:01 PM.Q9650 @ 4.10GHz [9x456MHz]

Profjim - You were dead on - I put the Antec CP-1000 PSU in my EP45-UD3P/E8600 RIG - It worked great.I put the Antec 750 Blue PSU in my EP45T-USB3P/Q9650 RIG - Same problem.Must be MOBO or BIOS problem.I'll email Gigabyte Tech Support - When I hear something from them I'll post it back in this thread. Thanks again.

Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU
I fail to understand the "problem" here, is it the wrong readings from non GB software?
EasyTune reports it "correctly", that's all there is to it.
For bugs in other foftware you should contact it's author, I am quite sure they will tell you the same.
Both HWMonitor(CPUID) and SpeedFan report bogus +12v voltage for my board, never worried me a bit.

Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU
Chike,I agree with you 100%.This is a fairly new MOBO - Everest said they were not familiar with this Motherboard and asked for permission to access my computer so they would be able to help me and others in the future.Thats why I say I agree with you. Those other programs probably have the same issues. With that out of the way - Do you think you could help me with a mild overclock? My RAM is running 1333 (auto)so whatever OC will get it up 1600.I sure would appreciate it.

Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU
With 333MHz FSB DDR-1333 is as high as it gets.
For DDR-1600 400Mhz FSB is required (with max memory multiplier of 4), with or without a slight overclock to the CPU.
The RAM has very low rated voltage, what is the actual voltage reading in PC Health or EasyTume HWMonitor tab?
It is also sold as targeted at P55 chipset based systems, no compatibility is listed fpr P45, have you experianced any stability problems so far, and/or have you ran any stress/stability tests on the system?
What kind of CPU coller do you have?

Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU
Chike,Yes I would like to run DDR 1600 400 Mhz FSB.DRAM voltage is 1.328 in ET6.I was leary about this memory too but this is what G.Skill recommended to use with this MOBO.
G.Skill Forums Feb. 14, 2010 - DDR3 Section (wibujo) "DDR3 Upgrade" is the name of the thread.I've run IBT (standard test) 20 passes no problems.I've run Prime 95 3 hrs. no errors. The reason I haven't Stressed any more than that is - There is alot of settings in BIOS I'm not sure about.I just got lucky on my settings because I know nothing about DDR3 memory. But I'm willing to learn if you could help me.My CPU cooler is the Megahalems with 2/NEXUS D12SL-12PWM 120mm fans. Thanks again.

Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU
Alright then I see you all prepered for some serious OC, sorry I ovelooked your signature.
Read this post for recommended manual stock settings before OCing.
Note that you ram is DDR3, do not exceed it's rated voltage for now.
Post full BIOS settings after setting them manually, or before if you are unsure and want us to review them.
Please post the screen capture as described in step 4.

Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU
I see JEDEC profiles are set to 1.5v so higher memory voltage is not a problem.
I usually recommend to use the XMP/EPP profile and leave all timings on auto, and leave them be untill CPU OC is done. Current manual settings will be fine up to DDR-1600.
I believe that with a few changes you can get the memory to 1600MHz with a slight OC:
CPU Clock Ratio ---------------------- : [8x]
CPU Frequency ---------------------: 3.2Ghz (400x8)
CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) --------------: [400]
System Memory Multiplier -------------- : [4.00D] << you may try 4.00B/4.00A/4.00C multipliers if this doesn't work
Load-Line Calibration ----------------- : [Enabled]
CPU Termination --------- 1.200V* ----- : [1.200] << 1.22-1.24 may be needed
MCH Core ---------------- 1.100V ------- : [1.100] << increase graduately up to 1.26v if needed
DRAM Voltage ------------ 1.500V ------- : [1.35] << perheps a bit more to read 1.35 in ET6
If you do not wish to use LLC you may need to increase vcore instead.
Other tweaks may be needed like adjusting MCH/CPU Reference
Run a few passes memtest86+ before attempting to run windows, then a few hours Prime95 and decide how you want to continue, higher FSB or CPU frequency.
You can save different BIOS profiles for different purposes or times (e.g. I use lower OC at summer), so you may stabilize and optimize a 3.6GHz@400FSB profile, and then continue with higher FSB.

Re: EP45T-USB3P problem with PSU
Chike, I'm having alot of problems.First of all the only Drivers I've updated was the LAN driver.Since this is a fairly new MOBO (12/29/09) I thought maybe the disk contained the most current drivers. This is the first time that I have ran MEMtest 86+ on this RIG. "COULD NOT" get it to run 400 FSB. Auto timings - MEMtest showed me running single channel sometimes - So I set all timings manually. I still could not pass memtest 400FSB. I thought I should get it stable at 333 FSB - Then I would have a stable starting point. I finally got MEMtest to pass and PRIME 95 stable for 2 hours @ 333 FSB. I broke the "GOLDEN RULE" and made multiple changes at one time. So I am not sure what helped me to get stable. I am including my M.I.T., my Advanced BIOS, and Integrated Peripherals BIOS settings. Could you look at them and see if there are any changes I need to make and let me what you think is my next step.
