  • Total Settings For GA EX58-UD5

    Listen,
I have been looking and looking around for a place that would explain the mathmatics behind ALL the tweaking settings in the UD5 or ANY EX58 motherboard from Gigabyte. I cant even find any X58 explainations.

What bothers me is there are so many new settings (or terms) in these Bios that overclocking and raising values seems like a feat in itself. Its no longer the typical, Multi FSB and Cpu Dram Ratio like it used to be.

I mean... What the heck is an Uncore? and why does my UD5 with Bios F9m show it as twice my Ram but with F9 and F10 it shows it at 2.5 times on auto?

I mean is this correct? Or is this set up for a 6 core and I just have to set it to x16 to get my double? and why the change?

SO many questions that if there was an explaination of what these settings actually change in the grand scheme of things no one that actually can do math would need to ask a million questions on forums for weeks wondering how to get optimum overclocks on air, water , cascade, or chillers. Please someone that knows this stuff help us out that dont know where to look to find the explanations to these settings.

I get a little tired of hearing," I dont know what they do" " just set what I tell you to set". I want to know what they are because that is TWEAKING a board. Just changing the main settings is not being able to get everything out of the processors and boards.

    Thanks

follow my sig for an overclock guide, theres a rule of adjusting uncore speed as 2x the mem multi or 2x+1,whatever is the most stable..another rule is to keep qpi voltage within .5v of what your ram voltage is so not to damage the memory controller which is onboard the cpu...also its better for stability to set voltages manually, the three main voltages to keep an eye on and take off auto are your cpu/qpi and ram......hope this helps

Re: Total Settings For GA EX58-UD5

Great Response here. love it! Thanks!

You know, I flashed to the F9 and then F10 Bios with some very strange happenings.
The QPI uncore on auto before flashing from the F9e bios was double the Ram speed.
Then after the flash it was double plus one half. I could not get a 200Bclk with either of those Bios releases. And I tried to set the Uncore back to double and still same crashes. Then I put the F9e back in and got 4.2 Turbo enabled with 1.296 vcore Stable.
Why is the F9 release and F10 So bad? Why do they Raise the Uncore to over double on auto?

One thing i just wanted to know randomly... Why is my 920s Vantage Score over 54,000 and the one on the overclock guide is only 23,000+ ?
How can they vary that much?

Congrats on your system build, it looks like a very nice system with good water cooling. What are your temps?

About the BIOS, I would say, stick with what works, and keep it until you find a very good reason to change/upgrade. As I don't have the same MOBO , or know more about it, I can't say much about the specific versions and their issues.

                            Hey warren,
How do you get easy tune to work? everytime I try to use that with WIN7 64 bit it chokes my PC. Im wondering if there is something im missing. And can you post bios settings for that? I am at 4.4ghz and would like to hit 5 on water just for benching. thanks

Also, Everyone who has clocked this board if you could please let me know what you set your uncore at in reference to your ram? reason is that in my board my uncore on auto ALWAYS sets itself at 2.5 times my ram speed. Never 2 times and when I set it at double ram speed it always messes the overclock up. Everyone says for quad cores it should always be double and for 6 cores it should be 1.5. SO mine being 2.5 is insane but thats the only way it works.
