  • Water Block System

What is a good CPU water cooling system that does not drain the wallet to much?
Or maybe one that has enough punch to maybe handle the north and south bridge and the gpu as well.

        Re: Water Block System

In shore, Kits are usually crap. The H50 is a decent bit of kit but as said it's a self contained unit and will only cool the CPU.

Most WC kits don't really cut it. They come with all the trouble of setting up a WC kit but very often lack the performance you'd expect. You will be better off and sometimes it's cheaper to buy things separately. Grab a CPU block, Radiator, res, fans and a pump. Don't forget tubing and something to cut the tube with (get some proper tube cutters, don't use scissors)

The Southbridge will not need cooling. Even in a heavily OC'd system it won't get hot enough to need it.

You will need seperate loops if you intend to WC the CPU NB and GPU or your temps will be rubbish. That is too much heat for even the best WC kit out there. I'd suggest the CPU and NB on one loop and the GPU(s) on another. You can use a smaller, standalone rad for the GPU if it's a single card.

Most importantly get a hi-flo system with either 3/8" or 1/2" tubing and a pump that can do between 700 and 1400 litres per hour of flow rate. This pump is popular and extremely good : Laing D5 Vario 12V Pump with Conversion for 10/8mm, 3/8" or 1/2" Loops | watercooled-pcs.co.uk . It's widely available. Swiftech blocks are OK, Thermochill rads are my fave ThermoChill PA120.2 Dual Radiator | watercooled-pcs.co.uk (get a double layer rad).

A dual bay res with split containers will allow you to use the one res with seperate water reserves for each loop, such as this one:
Coolermaster CM 690 II advance Case
        Corsair HX750 (CWT, 91%(80+ Gold rated @230V) single 62A 12V rail

        Core i5 760 @ 20 x 201, 4.02GHz
        TRUE Black with a single Noctua NF-P12 pumping out 55 CFM @ 19db .
        2 x 2GB Mushkin Ridgeback (996902), @ 7-10-8-27, 2010-DDR, 1.66v
        2 x Gigabyte GTX 460 1024MB in SLI (Pre OC'd to 715MHz core and 1800MHz VRAM) @ 850 Core / 4100 Mem.
Intel X25-M Boot Drive (OS and Programs) 200MB/s Read & 90MB/s Write
        Corsair X32 200MB/s Read & 100MB/s Write

              Re: Water Block System

The OP asked for a WC setup to cool CPU, GPU and NB, the H50 is a standalone CPU cooler, therefore not what the OP is looking for.

Yes, the type of custom kit mentioned will fit in a 900 perfectly. You will just need to mount the radiator outside the case on the rear of the machine (you have 2 holes for the tubing in the rear of the case).

For a 900 I'd suggest a simplified setup. You don't really need the NB water cooled TBH, just maintain a little airflow in the case and you'll be fine.

Grab the Rad I linked to (360 3 fan double layer), the res, the pump I linked, a CPU water block, a GPU block, some 1/2" or 3/8" tubing, the fittings to screw into the res, rad and blocks that match the component threads at one end and give the right diameter of pipe at the other, either 3/8" or 1/2" and some coolant.

The sequence of piping should have the water flowing in the following order: res-to-pump-to-rad-to-cpu-to-gpu-to-res. this means that any heat dumped into the system from the pump will be eliminated before the water reaches your CPU.

yes i know he asked for a setup that included cpu/nb and gpu...but i suggested an h50 because its small and compact/easy to install tho it will only cool the cpu......but a full set up with two loops would cool parts much better, but would need more care/time to install, its whatever suits your needs at the end of the day

Thanks for that link with them pics. It is very helpful in deciding what to look for. I have never seen a water block system before and this will help. I do want to do my CPU and gpu for sure. Do they make a full water block for an evga gtx 275. And what is a nice water block for my CPU and my ep45-ud3p
