Hi all,
sorry for starting a new thread, but i:m kindo of at my wits end i have spent over 20 hrs now, over 2 days, trying to get my PC to work
i finished building it the other day so it has no OS or anything on it...
here are the parts
AM3 Phenom 945
Gigabyte GA-Ma770T-UD3P rev 1.0
G skill ripjaws 2x2gb DDR3 1333
HDD Seagate SATA 500gb HDD
HIS 5770
Lian li PC-K58
Sony OEM SATA DVD writer
SEAsonic M12 II 500W PSU
trying to install windows 7 OEM 64bit
bascically everything goes fine until windows asks me where i want to install it - but it cant find my HDD - and gives me the option to load drives for the SATA but i tried downloading them from the gigabyte website but they are the wrong ones
the HDD is set to IDE i tried AHCI but i coulnt get to the boot screen
tried moving the SATA cables to various combinations
was able to format my HDD from dos, run and scan disk and no errors, also BIOS recognizes the drive so I figure the HDD is OK
also when I tried to put my old HDD with and old copy of windows XP on it got stuck on the windows loading screen and then reset it self and that kept on looping...
not really sure where to go from here as I have no OS to play with and \i cant seem to find any drives to get my pc to recognive the HDD/SATA... the ones gigabyte offers are for RAID and AHCI...
maybe ill try downloading a linux OS and see if i can get an install from there? but really i:m ready to give up its been too long
