  • GA-EX58-UD5 endless beeping

    I'm building a system.

    Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5
    Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D RAM
    Corsair 950W PSU
    Radeon 4890
    WD 300GB HD

I turned the machine on fine with 1 stick of ram in to configure the ram settings in the BIOS. Rebooted just fine.

I added 2 other sticks in and tried booting - only to be met with endless beeping and a black screen. No post, no nothing.

I'm trying to boot with sticks in slots 1, 3, 5 - all the white slots on the mobo. The system will boot with any one stick of RAM in slot 1. If I try to stick a single stick in slot 3 the computer never posts, just hangs at a black screen with no beeps, nothing. I can boot with a single stick in slot 5 just fine too.

I've also tried booting with default RAM settings (1033mhz, etc) anything in slot 3 = no boot.

    Any suggestions?

its a faulty ram slot, turn power off from pc put stick in ram slot 3 and wiggle slightly, dont do it with power on as it will blow your ram module, after wiggling it around try and boot again...dont move ram when theres power running through tho..if it doesnt fix it i would rma the board..what cpu cooler are you using? its sometimes caused by forcing pushpins down hard it upsets the ram slots

      Re: GA-EX58-UD5 endless beeping

Did you test each stick separately one by one in a known working slot? If not start there as you may have a faulty stick of memory.

If each one works then you may indeed have a faulty slot, as I have tested a few sets of memory in X58 boards and each one I could post with a single stick in any white slot.

Although, you may be seeing this also due to a slightly incompatible BIOS that only shows when you load all the modules. So you may want to update to the latest BIOS using only one stick before you begin further testing.
