  • Best AMD Mobo for overclocking results like UD3P

I have an intel Gigabyte EP45-UD3P or so... with Q9550 and it overclocks very very well. I am wondering if there is an identical mobo like the UD3P but works on AMD CPUs... since with this recession going on and performance difference are truly small and I do not work on mission critial apps for now.. what is good. I thought of pairing with one of those AMD quad core CPUS I think is the 620 or 630 selling for $119 or so .... building it for someone as well. Maybe even the
AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0GHz. How fast one of these overclock anyway or even the best AMD overclocker. Please advise.

You're not going to get very far with a 620 or any of the other Athlon II X4's. They'll top out on air cooling at 3.2-3.3GHz. They're also cheap for a reason. They have no L3 cache, unlike the Phenom II X4's which do. This makes a lot of difference to over all speed. The 620 is god value sure, but it's not a performance or OC beast by any means.

With a true Phenom II X4 you should get good over clocking results. Any where from 3.6GHz to 4GHz if very lucky.
