  • Has anyone stabilized GA-EP45-UD3P w/8GB?

I would love to hear stories even fables from ANYONE who has successfully installed and stabilized 8GB of ram on mobo GA-EP45-UD3P (1.1). Reading and troubleshooting, I'm starting to think it is a myth...

    If you have:
    1. Which model ram?
    2. How much tweaking did it take?
    3. How long has it been stable?
    4. Can you also change water into wine?

Re: Has anyone stabilized GA-EP45-UD3P w/8GB?

Many have successfully used 8GB of memory, most have had to run their memory at somewhat lower than rated speeds.
Using the forum search feature, advanced search, I selected "Search Titles Only" and did two searches:
    8gb+ram
    8gb+memory

If you want specific help, follow steps 2,3, and 4 in this post and we can help you get the most out of your setup.

re #4 in your post, we often perform what some might call black magic when we help members solve their system problems ;)

Re: Has anyone stabilized GA-EP45-UD3P w/8GB?

I have been running 8GB of Gskill F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK for months. I guess about 4-5 months. I have NEVER had a problem. I have changed cases 2 times and never had a problem starting up or running stable. Try it out. It's great! I did NO tweaking. I did set the timings at 5-5-5-15 so it stays at those timings if I OC. I even got it in 2 pairs about a month apart. Good luck.

BTW - My sig has a different system but I have the same motherboard as you. GA-EP45-UD3P 1.1

Re: Has anyone stabilized GA-EP45-UD3P w/8GB?

Search for posts from a member called Grishkafool. He's running 8GB of RAM on a UD3P. The RAM is also Gskill F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK. This is the RAM I'd buy if intending to get 8GB running . His RAM is running at the rated speed of DDR-1066 (or there abouts) and with an overclock of over 4GHz.

Many many others I know have had success with that model too. I know the natural reaction is that if Gskill RAM failed this time, another model of GSkill will be the same, but that's not the case. The PK series contains totally different RAM IC's and probably a completely different PCB design too.

In my work rig, I have 8GB of this memory. Since it is primarily a rendering machine I ran it through some pretty long sessions of memtest86+. I'm running it with a Q9550 at stock speeds.

Gskills F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK - seems to be a frequent factor. I think Psycho101 recommended it in the other thread? In horse racing terms, it's a favourite.

When first assembled my X48 pc continuous boot looped on 4x1GB Corsair (Two pairs, not a set of 4), and was unstable at 800 despite being rated at 1066. Replaced with 2 x 2GB Corsair and no problems. So I don't know if anyone could guarantee no probs, but that ram seems like a fair bet given that others have had success.
