  • X48-DQ6 Issues

    Hello to All.

Just got this board and am experiencing some very wierd stuff.

#1 Once BIOS has posted and just before the OS starts to load all the Phase LEDS switch off and no matter what load the cpu is under they remain off until reboot. From my understanding these are supposed to remain on and display an approximation of load ?

#2 Fails OCCT at stock (2.40GHZ Q6600 VID 1.21250) first thing in the morning after Passing OCCT at (3.60GHz ) the previous evening. Infact fails to boot at previous nights settings almost everyday even if was on stock and is even flaky in normal operation. As day goes on stabilty appears to return.

(I've double checked the settings are being saved fine on the previous night)

#3 EIST doesnt work if the CPU voltage is changed from Normal

All the components have been tested and retested in other systems apart from the motherboard.

I am a fairly experienced system builder and can only think i've got a duff board or i'm really dumb :)

    Specs

    Q6600 VID 1.21250
    Crucial 10th Anniversary DDR2 1GB x 4 / GEIL DDR2 1GB x 2 / Corsair CM2X 1GB x 2
    Corsair HX620 PSU
    nVidia 7900GTX

    Thanks

It might help to get an x48 template from above link and fill in the bios settings yr using. At least it can be seen if a bios setting might be the cause or not. Hopefully not a duff board.

EDIT: The leds dont stay on after post. "just after verifying dmi data pool then all 4 turn off", "if you disable DES in the bios they don't do much once the system finishes posting"

              Re: X48-DQ6 Issues

Ya they will go out, unless you are overclocked and under load and have C1E and EIST Enabled, and do not have the LED's disabled via DES Program

IN regards to your EIST issue, what BIOS are you using? And really, EIST only normally works if you leave vcore in Auto or normal, which is not suggested with overclocking

OCCT, if you need help with your settings I can help. If you do, please get a template from the link in my signature and give me your current settings. And PLEASE do let me know which ram you are using, since you listed a few sets. Please tell me the model # or link me to it.

                Re: X48-DQ6 Issues

Hi there , finally got it stable now.

But still defaults fsb to 266 after its switched off for a while .. have replaced the cmos battery too.

and there's a 14 day backlog in GigaByte replying to emails.

Now i remember why i stopped buying there products.

Thanks again Salty for your input.

Are u sure u dont want to post bios settings or link to them? LSDmeasap might well be able to help.
