    GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD4P CPU fan header

    Hello,
    I just purchase the EX58-UD4P and i would like to know, whats the wattage or amperage limit of the CPU fan header? I ask because i purchase an panaflo fan for my megahelmes heatsink and im not sure if i should connect it directly to the motherboard or purchase a fan controller.

    Connecting that fan to the cpu fan header shouldn't be a problem. I have a Scythe Slipstream 120mm that moves 110cfm @1900rpm on my Cpu fan header and another on a Sys_Fan header . These are attached to my noctua HS.

    Do some googling, see if the sycthe slipstream has the same amperage has your panaflo, that should help.

    Sorry i cannot give you a solid answer, however someone who can will probly be here any minute . He uses the same exact board and can hopefully get into the specifics for ya.

      it depends on how much current the Panaflo draws. There are some fans, like the Delta high speed range can draw up to 4A sustained and maybe 4.5A or more on start up. If it's a similar kind of fan, then it really needs to be connected to a molex plug via a converter, preferably one with 18 gauge wiring.

      If you post up a link including the Amerage and we can advise for certain. Personally I don't like to connect any fan to a mobo header if it draws more than 0.75-1A maximum.

        Thanks for the response the panalfo i currently have is Panaflo 120x38mm High Speed FBA12G12H1BX by NMB-MAT. I guess the one i have at the moment could run off the cpu header, i may buy the one you link hmm.

          No problem.

          You will definitely be OK using the fan header with the fan you linked, no problems at all.

            I've just heard from Gigabyte support on this topic - the max is 3 amps at 12 volts. This is confirmed by other information I've found.
