    Hi tweaktown peeps,
I just recently got a Q8200 which is a upgrade from my E6300. I was just testing it out and i achieved 3.0 Mhz [429 x 7] on stock voltage and stock fan. My rated FSB speed is 1716.2 Mhz, on the box of my mobo it says [FSB by overclock 1600. DDR2 by overclock 1200]. I set my ram to 1:1 ratio. Temps are in the picture

    My question is:
will i kill my motherboard since the FSB is to high?
Is it okay for this overclock?

    My system specs:
    Cpu: q8200 using stock fan
    Mobo: EP35 - DS3P rev 2.1
Ram: i have 2x2G kingston hyper X ..model name: KHX6400D2K2/4G.
PSU: Coolermaster Extreme Power Plus 650watts
    Gfx card: gigabyte 9800gtx+ 1GB
    HDD: 250gb western digital

There's nothing wrong with your overclock. As long as you don't have Vcore, CPU Termination, PLL, MCH Core and VDIMM on auto, you're fine. Your FSB isn't high. Compared to many overclocks it's pretty low. I ran my Q8200 (different stepping) on a 486 FSB (1994MHz quad pumped), temps were fine etc.

You could even go higher if you want. 3.2GHz should be easily achievable. It took 1.2750V to get mine stable at 3.2, but you have a higher VID so it may take more. This was with a 1.24V CPU Termination, 1.57V PLL, 1.28V MCH Core and VDIMM at max rated 2.1V. Q8200's aren't good overclockers, but they aren't awful.

Re: need advice to oc q8200 on the EP35-DS3P

          VID seems v high.
35 board may not cool as well as UD3 tho 35 chipset seemed to run high fsb ok.
The main reason for the 45 chipset was to accomodate 400 base ref cpu's

Im running 500 fsb/3.5 Ghz right now.

Your load temperatures for the cores should be ok.Once you get to around 69-70C under load you may get problems.

Its a case of :running the cpu faster,it gets hotter..so you need more voltage to compensate. More voltage makes the cpu hotter..etc etc.

You will find a point where you have to put in much higher cpu voltage to make the cpu run stable for like 30 mhz more cpu speed.
then youre getting near the limit.
